Reviews of Magnolia OB/GYN
"I am extremely grateful for all the care I've received through this office, especially Dr. Markley. I called a few years ago, desperate to find a new gyn because my previous provider couldn't see me for 4 months when I called about a very urgent matter (continuous, unexplained pain in uterus with bright red blood). Dr. Markley was able to take me on as a new patient and see me within 4 days. I've never had any billing issues, and their office is pretty on schedule so waiting in the lobby as well as in the exam room is quite minimal. I had to have a surgery at grand strand (coordinated through Magnolia) and at some point over that following weekend my sutures came undone. Dr. Markley brought me in on a Sunday, and with a nurse assisting, stitched me back up and made sure I had something to numb me for the procedure. She has addressed various concerns of mine over the years and her office staff has always been polite and respectful. I really can't say enough great things about this office."
"I hope the doctors in this practice read the reviews and realize what low caliber of people they have representing their practice. I spoke to Christy from the front desk and Lisa the manager of billing. Both people were extremely rude to me. It was shocking to hear someone speak this way to me considering I wanted to be a part of their practice. My guess is they figured out that they would not be able to help me. I guess they “knew” where this was going and decided to not be respectful. They both cut me off mid sentence. When I asked Lisa if I could simply finish my sentence and to please not cut me off. She said no. She wouldn’t like to talk to me anymore. She actually said these words: quote.. “There is no point to keep talking since you will not be a customer here” I said. It simply doesn’t seem appropriate to cut off a potential customer mid-sentence. When they realized. I would not be able to be a customer of theirs. Their choice. I guess she thought she could speak to me any what she desired. I really hope the doctors in this practice realize the rude and disrespectful women they have representing their practice."
"I was very surprised to see Magnolia OBGYN doesn’t have a 5 star rating. The staff has always been friendly & professional. Dr. Brown is absolutely amazing. She’s kind, professional, helpful, and patient. I don’t feel like just a number with her. I had a terrible experience at my prior OBGYN, and due to their lack of proper timely care that ultimately lead to some health issues not caught until I switched to Magnolia. Dr. Brown helped me heal, and did the right thing. These two experiences were night & day. I would recommend anyone to this office & staff! Thank you!"
"If I could give 0 stars I would. The Doctors and providers in this office are very nice. However it does not make up for the fact that the office staff is rude and disrespectful. The billing department makes a practice of calling and being disrespectful to expectant mothers and talking down to them while explaining their global plan. They nickel and dime you to death at every visit and make it very clear their first priority is the money. Patient care is somewhere low on the totem pole. Then they break their own contracts and over bill you and your insurance and refuse timely refunds to their patients. Denise actually laughed at me on the phone when I asked for a timely refund. They expect you to wait until your child is at least 5 months old to see money that is rightfully owed to you. I am owed over $1000 and I encourage everyone to check their EOB's and request itemize bills. Report their billing practices if you like me have been overly charged and defrauded by their "contracts". Clearly the office staff does not take them seriously because they will charge more than the written amount by billing multiple times for services that should be covered in the first place. If you are fortunate enough to not already be caught in this mess run!!! Find another office that prioritizes patient care and makes you feel valued as a patient. It has been made very apparent over the last year I am nothing more than a dollar amount to these people."
"I have to give credit to this review to my sister-in-law who encouraged me to write my own review since I recommended her to this practice in which she is currently having ongoing issues with getting her refund. Dr. Golden was also highly recommended to me, and as a new Myrtle Beach resident, I wished I would have done my own research first. I have stopped recommending this practice to those I come into contact with searching for an OBGYN, especially if they want to become expecting mothers. When I first started seeing Dr. Golden, I was extremely happy with my care. Once I became pregnant, my experience only went down hill. Nothing in this review is anything I haven’t shared with the practice or billing manager. However, I was also FIRED as a patient after my 6 week post op. So, for every comment from the practice saying to call back to share their experience, I bet it’s a lie because I did share my experience openly and received a certified letter about parting ways. Firstly, I did not appreciate the call about my global plan. I have been at another practice with my first son and never experienced such cold, money driven conversations. Everything is a dollar sign to this practice. Secondly, the billing department asked for money based off an “estimate” which they could not guarantee as they actually didn’t look into my specific plan. The amount of money that they estimated was what they “usually see” with my plan. I was able to call my insurance and figure out my copay less than 20 minutes. Also, I was told that I would have to call after my delivery to see how much I was overcharged since it is just an “estimate”. I was informed that it would be my responsibility. After having a child, I did not feel it should be my responsibility to check after a health care provider who employs billing professionals for a this task. 90% of my pregnancy was focused on billing and copays instead of being able to enjoy my pregnancy. The best thing this practice can do is do a clean sweep of all office staff and try again…"
