Reviews of PORT HEALTH | Wilmington Clinic
"I just moved here from Nashville TN. I have no money, and live in a sober living house. These people treated me with such kindness and compassion. They gave me the state grant that covers my maintenance medication, so I pay nothing out of pocket. Groups are really good too. If I could give 6 stars I would."
"The worst experience so far in NC. The receptionist was rude and hateful especially about insurance. My son signed all the paperwork for them to talk to me then they wouldn’t. He was trying to get in Stepping Stone but the treatment team denied him based on past hospitalizations even though they advertise help with mental illness. Then the assessor recommended another behavioral health place. They didn’t even offer my son any of their services to assist him! What kind of mental health clinic tells you to go somewhere else. Where we are from we didn’t have options so this is all new to us and so far there hasn’t been much help."
"One of the worst mental health places I’ve ever gone to. Front desk lady is rude and could careless about helping anyone. The nurse has never once picked up the phone (no exaggeration here) Including when i had extremely important questions about my medicine. I had talked to the coordinator about this issue and nothing was done. I recently called to ask them to switch me back over to my sleeping medication because I hadn’t slept for days and was told by the receptionist they absolutely cannot do that and that i have to wait until I have an appointment. She didn’t even try to help me In this situation and told me to wait for the nurse to call me. Obviously this was extremely frustrating so i had to contact another provider to prescribe me the medication. I had called Port Health at 9:00 am that morning which they stop calling people back at 4:00 pm and at 3:57 pm the nurse decided to finally take one minute of her day to give me a call back saying I was approved for my sleep medication.(shout out to the receptionist that has no idea what she’s talking about) Other mental health places get concerned when you don’t go/miss an appointment and will reach out but not Port Health! The lack of empathy and just overall health of their patients is appalling."
"The lady at the front desk is extremely rude. I’ve called in the past as well as today expressing concern or looking for solutions for scheduling appointments or insurance issues and she was absolutely no help and had no concern for the fact that I was at risk of running out of my medication which I am dependent on. She has spoken to me each time with a tone and attitude that made me feel like nothing more than a burden to the point where I dread having to call them for anything and when I do I always have this exact experience. My therapist here is great, but as the receptionist she is the first line of contact for patients and beginning every experience with this type of interaction truly ruins the entire experience. Mental health is something so many people already struggle to seek treatment for and when you finally do and are welcomed with nothing but negativity it really makes it hard to keep coming back."
"I had to leave a review because all these negative ones really upset me. I just switched here from another place because I couldn't keep paying 400$ a month to see the Doctor and they didn't accept any insurance. Everyone one I've talked to or met has went out of their way to help me. I been to several places. And port health defiantly has been the fastest getting back to me. Treating me respectfully and actually caring about my recovery not how much money they can make. So I don't see how if this has been my experience so far how some of these reviews are true."
