Reviews of West Prong Trail Trailhead
"Medium difficulty hike....wear good shoes and if you like your hiking stick bring it along! The view of the Falls is the perfect reward for any little difficulty along the way. My friend and I made it in just over an hour with leisurely climbing. Most of the trail is partial shade so it makes it not too hot or difficult in that aspect. Enjoy being in nature!"
"Went 5 or so miles from the trail head one way..to bote mountain..Saturday and passed about 4 people the whole way..nice and quiet and secluded. Farther along the trail at campsite 18 was nice cascades..very nice campsite also! Was hoping to see some wildlife but just saw birds and squirrels..nice hike!"
"Beautiful trail, not a whole lot of people either. If you go right at the first fork you can see a cemetery that is still kept up and used. Left at the fork, you continue on the trail. It eventually leads to campsite 18, which is beautiful too. If you want to continue on the trail, go across the foot bridge and then to the right through the campsite., You'll then be at Bote Mountain"
"This is a nice 5.5 mile hike...round trip. The hike thru the wood to campsite 18 is beautiful. Up hill, and down hill. The river is amazing, but watch out for snakes. We also were blessed to see a black bear, and other wildlife. I would not take young kids, or those out of shape, for it is strenuous at times. The GSMNP is amazing."
