"First, Dr. Dean was great. Explained things well. However, it took me months to get an appointment for my child requiring multiple phone calls. Now over a month has gone by since an EEG was performed with the recommendation being a CT or MRI done. I have called weekly to find out which one it is to be and yet no decision has been made or communicated to the staff or myself. I was required to pay the full amount of the EEG despite having been told previously that I could do a payment plan. I have an insurance plan with a $3500 deductible that renews every 3 months. I communicated this at the appointment that I needed the appointment made by the end of March. Called on the 19th which is at least the 5th call I have made in a month, explaining we had a vacation planned and needed this to be done by the end of the week in order to get in under this 3 month insurance plan, to be told I would be called back. Difficult to understand when you are told your child is being recommended for such test why it is taking this long. Website talks of financial help and yet none was offered."
"If I could give this place NEGATIVE stars, I would! My son was referred here in MARCH of this year for autism testing, he was referred here SPECIFICALLY because they CLAIMED they would test PRIOR to 5 years! Fast forward to Sept, I had been calling this place for MONTHS to find out what was going on with his referral. FINALLY get in touch with the referral dept. Lady tells me they have had his referral since it was INITIALLY sent in, but CLAIMS they don't test under 5 years! Well that would have been nice to know when they RECEIVED the referral, instead of SITTING on it and never contacting us!!! Then goes on to tell us they have no one credited by out insurance and we would have to pay $600+ out of pocket for the testing!!! THEY should have CALLED when they got the referral to tell us all this, NOT just sit there like oh well!!!! VERY unprofessional on their part! I already let my sons therapist now and they are stopping ALL referrals to the epilepsy institution due to this, and I will be letting EVERY person I know who is looking for an autism evaluation to avoid this place at every cost! I'm VERY upset! We WASTED OVER 1/2 A YEAR for this evaluation, just to be shot down because SOMEONE WAS TOO LAZY to reach out to us! My son is back at square one and is not receiving the help he needs BECAUSE of these people!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!"
"Dr. Sullivan has patiently listened to my concerns regarding our 12 year old son recently diagnosed with high functioning autism. If he has a client he calls me back as soon as possible with an answer or explanation that makes sense out of behaviors both at home and school. Though the office is one hour each way, it is worth making the trip if it helps our son. Prior to this there was no help, just lots of medications and hospitalizations."
"My daughter with Epilepsy called the institution today and requested information. Her needs are for a roommate as she can not live alone. She made contact with a woman whose bottom line was, "it's too bad you don't belong to a church so that you could get your support there". How sad is that. Isn't this a State funded program designed to help everyone? My daughter is 27, trying to maintain some sort of independence. She was looking for a forum for people in NC who have the same disability that might have some advice for her. How dare this woman discriminate based on religion!"
