Meadowview Research Farms

Meadowview Research Farms, located at 29010 Hawthorne Drive in Meadowview, Virginia, is home to The American Chestnut Foundation's breeding program aimed at developing resistance to the blight fungus in American chestnut trees. The property spans over 150 acres and houses tens of thousands of chestnut trees at various stages of the breeding process.

Established in 1989, the farm has been a key player in the backcross breeding program for over three decades. In 1995, the Glenn C. Price Research Farm was acquired to expand operations, including offices, labs, and nursery facilities. The Glenn C. Price Laboratory was dedicated in 2010 for on-site research, and an operations building was added in 2015 for seed storage and workspace.

In 2017-2018, a modern greenhouse and shade houses were constructed to enhance the farm's capabilities in growing seedlings for research and breeding. The greenhouse was dedicated to chairman emeritus Dick Will in recognition of his support and leadership. Meadowview Research Farms collaborates with various partners to achieve the goal of restoring the American chestnut to its native range.
