"My son has attended this daycare since the very day he turned 6 weeks old and today, at 4&1/2 years old my son was told he could no longer attend daycare. Please read this to it’s entirety. I have had a WONDERFUL experience up until summer of last year when the new director Loren replaced the precious directors position that moved on to a bigger opportunity. They had so many fabulous teachers from Ashley & Dee in the infant room, Latreece in the 1-2 year old room, Amanda in the toddler room, Alaina who floats the daycare, Gloria, and the sweet lady who use to work at the faith rd location, I can’t remember her name for the life of me, but she was wonderful. As for the rest of this facility at this point, I’m being generous giving 1 star. We just introduced our last baby in mid September. My son in the coming weeks of a new baby, was really struggling with the fact he wasn't going to be the baby anymore. I prepared the daycare for this. Once his sibling arrived he did start experiencing some emotions. As most typical 4 year olds, my son doesn't have the capacity at this point to know how to properly channel his emotions. He would lash out by verbalizing he didn't want to do something, refusing to put his coat on, refusing to take a nap, tantrum, etc. When he was forced to do things instead, like take a nap (he hasn't napped at home since he was TWO) his emotions would get bigger and he would progress to kicking his teacher or a friend at school, yelling. Again, this isn't unexpected behavior from a child of this age. But they treated it as such. My son was suspended for the first time for 3 days the first week of January for kicking his teacher. I spoke with the current director Loren face to face. We agreed to allow my son to bring a toy with him for nap. It worked for a bit, but then it didn't. Back to the drawing board. My son was suspended a second time for 3 days last week for hitting a teacher and a friend. I spoke on the phone for an hour that evening, discussing interventions I'd like to try with my son with Loren. - I requested a behavioral specialist come to observe my son and his teachers during the times he seemed to have the most behavioral problems/where they'd start... nap time. I was told this was okay/not okay/well look into it multiple times through text/email..... he was kicked out of daycare today...tomorrow the behavioral therapist was scheduled to come.... ironic. - I've requested a busy box for nap time. A box of quiet items provided to kids that don't nap.... this isn't uncommon, yet I asked for 6 weeks for one and when I asked today if he was ever given one I was answered with " i don't know" - I requested during the afternoons when they combine classes to send him to a smaller class because the larger classes seem to trigger him more, noted by Loren herself. I was told this is absolutely possible, but was informed today that they can't accommodate that because of staffing ratios... aka MONEY. - I requested him to go spend time with his little brother in another class when he seems to start getting worked up/overwhelmed..... he loves to take care of his little bro at home, his little brother is his favorite person. I was told this was fine, and she do it herself. I was told by my youngest sons teacher that my son had only came a few times, and only visits for like 5 minutes. - I requested behavior charting from his teachers. I asked for a quick blurb of: time, what/who was around, and what happened, possible trigger. I was given a Smiley face or drowns face stamped paper..... with notes like "not following directions." "Didn't want to nap today" Addressed this with Loren and I got silence.... not a word. Just a blank stare. Bottom line, none of my requests are out of line. These are all things a daycare is SUPPOSED to provide, and this "DIRECTOR" did not make ANY attempt to help my son but expected changed behavior."
"We love Cornerstone! Our daughter has attended since she was an infant (she's currently in Kindergarten). The management team and all of the teachers are fantastic! It's a clean facility and we really like their focus on healthy eating."
"The educators and atmosphere at this five star center instill a continual thirst for knowledge. The children here thrive with creativity, imagination, and a sense of belonging that I feel is essential. Cornerstone provides the tools early for beginning a healthy lifestyle and being successful in school and within the community."
