SMOKY MOUNTAIN URGENT CARE

"Called first thing, it took 7 calls for someone to answer. I ask the gentleman that answered what's the best time to come since we're a walk in? He says after the morning rush but before 4pm. We arrive at 11:20am to avoid the morning rush, and a sign on the door says closed for lunch until 1pm. I call and the same gentleman can't say for certain they will even be open at 1pm. This is why I asked when's the best time to come...could you have told me on the phone you're closed 2 hours from 11-1pm? We just drove 45 minutes to find you're closed for lunch. They say they're open 9-5pm but in reality its 9-11 and 1-5pm. Nice leisure 6 hour day. Terrible."

"The receptionist was rude, unprofessional and beyond incompetent. Refused services to patient with good insurance and even offering to pay in cash based on ethnic bias. I have never seen such an unprofessional medical office in my life. Wasted an hour and patient was never seen. Waiting room was empty when we arrived. By the time we left it was full and people were all sharing tales of how badly they were being treated by the office staff. Don't stop by here if you actually need medical treatment. You would have better luck wrapping a potato in a washcloth, burying it in the dirt and praying under a full moon. We went down the street to Dr. Steve, Patient was seen instantly with no hassle and had a great experience."

"I went to the the clinic because of a feral cat bite, knowing it should be looked at and required an updated tetanus shot. The man at the window said, you don’t need to come here, we don’t do tetanus shots, but the pharmacy does. I had already called Smart pharmacy, their policy is to require a doctor order. I informed the man of this, and he replied, well let me check with Ingles. I waited while he called. At the end of the conversation he asked if I could go there for a tetanus, turned away, said goodbye and hung up. He then questioned my reporting of the bite. I told him I dropped the cat at animal control and filed a report. He felt the need to question the veracity of my statement, then proceeded to call Animal control. I said my hand hurts badly and I need to see someone. I saw an excellent young, female PA. She said it was good to be proactive with cat bites and prescribed antibiotics and a tetanus shot at Ingles. I left and went to Ingles, 4:30 by then, only to find out their policy is no tetanus with a wound, even with a doctors order. I said to the pharmacist, Smoky Mountain Urgent Care called and spoke to someone here. At this another pharmacist spoke up and said I told Smoky Mountain Urgent care Ingles policy is to deny tetanus vaccinations if there is an open wound.The man at Smoky Mountain Urgent Care looked me straight in the eye and withheld pertinent information for my healthcare. Ingles said I should have gone to the health department, he did not share that information either."

"My first trip to Urgent Care. Reception guy was efficient, friendly and had a great sense of humor. Nurse took me right back and checked my vitals. Dr. Lisa came in shortly after and was attentive to my needs, checked me out, listened attentively and answered all my questions. Highly recommend!"

"I called urgent care regarding the issue that I had and explained my situation. Ruthanne was very understanding and told me to come in right away. Not going to get into the details, but it was rather personal and somewhat uncomfortable. Everyone there from the front desk gentleman, to Ruthanne, and Dr. Lisa were very compassionate and understanding, which made me feel very comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. My situation required that I see another doctor. They contacted the other office, and arranged everything. Then I received a follow up phone call from Urgent Care confirming the appointment they made for me within 1 hour. A very caring, compassionate, professional, competent team of people who work there, and a very good experience overall!"
