"Mr. Rawls is a wonderful violin teacher! He is a great musician and does a great job of teaching musicality to his students. He also has a range of helpful practice tips that help students effectively learn techniques and pieces. Mr. Rawls cares about his students and does a great job of motivating them to work hard with fun rewards like trophies at recitals. He’s also extremely kind and so supportive when it comes to auditions and performances. Mr. Rawls pushes his students at the pace the student wants to go, helping his students achieve their own individual goals as musicians. I came to Mr. Rawls as a brand new student (no violin background) in 8th grade, and over just ~4 years as his student before heading to college, I quickly excelled as a violinist. By 9th grade, I became concert mistress (first chair violinist) for my high school’s lower orchestra. By 10th grade, I became concert mistress for my school’s higher Chamber orchestra and maintained the position for my last three years of high school. In 10th, 11th, and 12th grades I also auditioned for and made it in to the NC high school eastern regional orchestra. I attribute my success as a violinist to Mr. Rawls. He is an exemplary teacher that creates exemplary violinists. If you’re looking for a violin teacher, I highly recommend Mr. Rawls!"
