"Previously had a great experience with them, we had been going to them for around 2 years. My dog started experiencing GI issues 5 days ago that included vomiting and blood in his stool. I called them multiple times, Monday and Tuesday (today is Wednesday) to obtain some advice and get him an appointment if needed. Received no call back, today my dog's stool was dark red/purple and mucousy (which can be dangerous and may indicate internal bleeding). I drove there as soon as they opened with hopes they could either get him in as an emergency, or even just show the vet or a vet tech the picture I took of his stool to let me know whether they thought it may be an emergency and I needed to take him to the emergency vet. The receptionist only offered me a drop off (which he does not do well in) or a later appt that would be more expensive to get me in day of. Even though I had been calling for days quite literately to get him an appointment with no call back. I was distressed and mainly upset that the vet I was choosing to trust my dog's health with was extremely unreliable and unhelpful. I know that this doesn't fall on Dr. Ulke because he had been wonderful, but on the office staff who dropped the ball on calling me back and getting him in for an appointment the days before. I ended up having to take my dog to Vet Emergency Group, which were wonderful and took the time to talk to me as a walk in and advise me on what to do. Changed vets after this experience to North Asheville Animal Hospital as they were understanding, kind and were able to get me a next day appointment, even though they typically don't do that for new customers. This is my first emergency and honestly the lack of sympathy, shallow apology, and blame shift to another vet tech for not calling me back from the receptionist was something alarming if this was ever to happen again."
