"When I realized I wanted to pursue the career path of hair I knew I wanted to learn from the best. As I was researching beauty schools in the area I kept running into an issue. It seemed that most name brand beauty schools did not properly cover information about textured hair or natural hair. I knew I wanted to know about ALL types of hair care and hair styling so I chose B-ty Institute. I attended B-ty Institute for the Spring 2023 semester and went in knowing NOTHING about braiding hair; I left graduating with great grades and many new skills about Natural Hair Care and Styling, and also business practices in the beauty industry. I struggled so much throughout the program, but Miss Grace believed in me and helped me believe in myself. Miss Grace made sure I didn’t quit even when I wanted to give up and could not see myself finishing the program. I definitely had to believe in myself and put in the hard work, however Miss Grace went above and beyond by giving me her extra time and energy. Multiple times she would stay after class with me to make sure I understood the curriculum and the homework assigned that week. She held weekly workshops to ensure all students could get extra help and get one-on-one time with her. Not only did Miss Grace guide me to successfully completing her Natural Hair Care program, she also held a four hour study session to prepare me to take the North Carolina Natural Hair Care Specialist Practical Exam. I was able to pass both the Practical and Theory exams. I received a score of 99 on the Theory exam and an 89 on the Practical exam. I have applied for my Natural Hair Care Specialist License and have been approved and will be receiving the physical copy of my license. I definitely had to work extremely hard, but with the help of Miss Grace teaching, guiding, and encouraging me, I was able to develop my self-esteem and confidence to heights I didn't think were possible. I would love to thank her for believing in me, seeing my potential, and pushing me super hard to achieve my best."

"This school far exceeded my expectations! I previously attended cosmetology school, but wanted to specialize in natural hair. I immediately saw where my money went when I arrived for the first day of class with a dufflebag FULL of supplies for me to use and KEEP! Ms. Grace saw the potential in each of us and pushed us to be the best stylist and person we can be. I learned far more in this 10 week program than I did 1.5 years at cosmetology school.
