Darksky view parking

"I'm from the desert and I was really missing the stars. I live in a van with my adventure cat and we've been checking out the southern sandstone in Tennessee. We drove 2 hours from Chattanooga to see what the eastern skies have to offer. Compared to the desert, the view gets a 7-out-of-10. But considering how close it is to a bunch of towns, it was still impressive. Aside from the star view, it was just a gorgeous quiet place to spend the night. Woke up to the sound of motorcycles riding the tail of the dragon."

"We went up on Saturday night and got there about 10 pm and turned the lights off on the car. We left the car running as it was in the low 40s and covered the lights on the dashboard. We opened the sunroof and saw more stars than I have ever seen in this area. We had the place to ourselves, and in the two hours we stayed, we saw two cars go by. We saw several meteorites streak across the sky. In the past, we usually stopped at the Turkey Creek Overlook, which is outstanding for sunsets. This was so much better for stargazing. I am hesitant to say this in an open forum, but it is a 20-mile drive one way to get there, so you have to be determined to get there. Who knows? Maybe next time we will have company."

"The view was very nice. I was traveling with a group of friends on motorcycles, and we pulled off the Cherohala Skyway to take a break and enjoy the view. The Cherohala Skyway is a very scenic highway in the Smoky Mountains, and a recommended drive, if you are in the area."

"A great plcae to watch the Milky way in clear nights. But watch out for other people watching and once you get close trun off your high beam light, you don't want to ruin someone's picture."
