"No compassion. My young son took our dog to Walkertown Veterinary Hospital Friday February 9, 2024. Our dog of 11 years had not been feeling well & took a drastic turn for the worse Friday. The vet noticed his abdomen was tender & recommended a sonar scan. He was diagnosed with a large mass on his spleen. Surgery would be painful, recovery long & difficult & not humane. If it were cancerous, he would not live long. Euthanasia was the best option for a pet we loved & wanted to spare further pain. My wife & I were out of town & started driving to the vet immediately. We didn’t want our young son to be alone with our beloved pet. We informed the vet, we arrive would 15 minutes after the office closed. They wouldn’t wait & our hearts were broken! Think twice about going here if you seek a compassionate team to care for your pets."
"I've been taking my 3 dogs here for over 4 years. My two older ones are 6 my youngest one is 3. All have been going to WVH since they were months old. I've personally never had a bad experience here with the staff or with the pricing of things. (Photo of my 3 fur-babies)"
"Yesterday 12/23/23 I arrived home to find Our loving family member of 14 years had suffered a severe seizure that left him with no muscular activity and barely panting. Gently, I drove Us to the Hospital to have his suffering ended. When I arrived , I knocked on a side door and got the attention of a staff member and explained to Her the situation , and asked for a gurney to lay Our pet on so I could bring Him in with as little discomfort as possible. After waiting several minutes I lost patience, and proceeded to cradle Him and walk to the front entrance. Standing at the door, 2 staff members observed Me there, and neither a one ,so much as even flinched to come and open the door for Me. ( To the Gentleman that got the door for Me, Thank You). Once inside, I asked for Him to be euthanized. Mind you, there wasn't but one person in the lobby at the time, yet the parking lot was full, as to where I had to park in a Handicap spot to start with. so Instead of allowing our pet to be laid down to put Him in some form of comfort, I had to sit on the bench cradling him. Finally, I was directed to a room ,not 6 feet from Me as to where I could lay Him down. Once in, a staff member came in and informed Me that a payment would have to be processed before such an act of ending Your pets life could be carried out, and he than proceeded to try to sell Me different personalized after passing goodies they offered. That's when I lost it. In a second I realized that Our beloved Pet's suffering would not end until the swipe of the card and payment was made. Real good service after that. Shame on each and everyone of You for prioritizing Your establishment to a dollar made rather than the Humane treatment of animals. I wasn't there for a flea treatment, I was there to end the suffering of Our Pet. You People really need to revisit Your Policy's and Procedures in the event that another Family has to bring their Pet in for this. Any for the Veterinarian Tech that gave Me the stern look, my thoughts were tenfold of You. Sorry I interrupted Your Christmas party."
