Reviews of Walhalla Farm
"Lynn is one of the best dressage instructors and trainers out there. She is the best kept secret in Moore County. She doesn't believe in the quick fixes, gadgets or gimmicks in getting a horse quickly up the levels unlike some trainers I know. She uses and adheres to the true German dressage method. Horses that she has trained or retrained work relaxed and are happy in their work. She is willing to work with any level rider and horse even the non traditional ones. She loves working with eventers and riders from other disciplines including driving. My own horse was a former Prelim eventer, a TB but Lynn adored him so much that she used him in lessons. She makes learning dressage FUN and can explain things a million ways until you get it. She can also think outside the box. Very supportive of your goals and doesn't pressure you to show. The care she gives her clients and horses that are boarded at her facility is top notch. The facility is BEAUTIFUL especially the covered arena with mirrors. She brings in excellent clinicians such as Gigi Nutter and Sara Schmitt (S level Judge). If you want a first rate instructor or trainer of your horse-you need to come check out Lynn and Walhalla Farm."
"Lynn is a fantastic trainer, patient (God knows I've tried her's) and understanding. I have been riding with her for just under a year now, and I've found her to be so incredibly knowledgeable, she is truly a natural at this. For quite a few years there, I began to think of this as more and more of a chore, each lesson had become perfunctory and reflexive, so I took a rather long break from the sport; it had lost its charm and its challenge, and I turn lost my heart in it. Well, recently I decided to pick up the spurs again. I'm glad that when I did, I ran into Lynn, otherwise I might've given it all up for good. She brought fun back into my riding. Now, I'll admit that it was my own fault for allowing myself to get into such a rut, but she really did reach out and help me out of it. I hope to begin showing again at some point, but that's never been the point of it for me. It's my connection to my horse, and our coordination and rhythm, moving in concert. That, to me, is what dressage is."
"I have been into horses since I was a little girl; my uncle owned a horse farm not five miles distant from my childhood home. So it was only natural that I grow into that rare breed, "The Horse Person." I have been a "Dressage Diva" for about four years now, and my husband and I moved to the area from Nashville about ten months ago. Wanting to continue in my riding (and with my husband deployed for much of the year), I searched the web for farms and trainers, and I came up with several reputable names in the area. Most of those trainers were more than happy to give me their time and allow me to come out and tour their farms (I know how very busy they all are). I was immediately impressed with Valhalla Farm's covered arena (as I've come to learn how unbearably hot and humid these Carolina summers are). I have been working with Lynn ever since. Not only is the arena an oasis, but the farm is beautiful and Lynn's clients are all wonderful and did not for a moment treat me as an "outsider" (something I have run into at other farms I've been at). I am happy and pleased to continue my training with Lynn as I feel very connected to her, and not just in a client/trainer relationship. We enjoy drinking coffee and chatting after each ride (a debriefing, as my husband would call it), where we can go over where I am weakest and strongest, my contact and connection, and how I look versus what I feel. My improvements are something that I can feel in my seat; it is not something that I am simply being told. (The only way the farm could be any more perfect would be mirrors in the arena. I was spoiled by my last farm which had two sets of mirrors, one on the long and another on the short.) I also had the pleasure of riding in a clinic at Valhalla Farm with GiGi Nutter. In that weekend I was able to learn quite a lot. Lynn has something of a saying, "I don't care if I've told you the same thing a thousand times, I don't care how or where you learned it, or who you learned it with, only that you learned it." Ha ha ha! I take this to mean that (unlike some trainers) she is not jealous, nor overcome with a sense of parochial rivalry, she just wants me to be the best rider I can possibly be and I truly appreciate that! She encourages me to attend every clinic that I'm able. This is something that I believe sets her apart from the pack. I can honestly and sincerely recommend Lynn Camina and the facilities of Valhalla Farm to any level rider (even with my years in dressage, I still consider myself a novice, I'm just not competitive by nature, I do this for pleasure), and I have already done so to the friends I have made since moving to the area. Thank you and have a blessed day! --Sammy"
