"I can not say enough about this school! I will start by saying that there is no perfect school! All of my children now attend SVHS, and have very different gifts and challenges! The teachers and staff care about ALL of the children! They lay aside their own personal lives and serve this community with all of their heart! If you are a parent and show SVHS that you care, they will go above and beyond to help you! As a side note, giving your children a hug and telling them how proud you are of them before they head-off to school makes a world of difference in their lives and in the life of the school! #grateful #thankful #hopeful"
"I am impressed by what my son is learning & how he has grown into a well-educated young man. I'm especially impressed by his science understanding, and world-view & politics learned here. I love this school! It has been a great place for our family to prepare our kids for their future."
"It's a pretty awful school, not because of the teachers, but because of the half baked ideas they come up with for "fun" or the rules that were never properly thought out, such as if you miss the first 15 minutes of a class you're counted absent unless you have some sort of note. After 15 minutes there's just no point in even showing up to class. The students are pretty average to any school, generally they aren't fun to be around but try to be friendly. Most departments of the school are completely underfunded, such as the art departments, the jrotc classes, and just about any other elective that isn't weightlifting or something to do with the football team. Most of the textbooks in the school are very outdated and will not be of use. Students don't get any free time with the exception of lunch, and there's a distinct lack of field trips unless you take a class which needs to have extra trips for performances (i.e. Band, JROTC, colorgaurd, marching band, any of the sports.) The entirety of this schools english department is useless, your child will simply be reading books that fall under a specific time period and then writing some sort of pointless literary analysis about it, instead of being encouraged to read their own books and find what they enjoy, then express their opinions and beliefs with the class. Overall a bad school, but there are easily worse."
"We Absolutely Love Sun Valley. My Husband Went to Sun Valley, He is Now 65. We Lived in the Same Place Since the 50's. Our Children Were Moved So Many Times. Our older two went From Wesley Chapel To Sun Valley Middle, Then Weddington Middle, Then Sun Valley High, To Weddington, were they Graduated. Our Youngest Started at Wesley Chapel, Then Moved to New Town Elementary, Then Cutherburtson Middle, To Cuthbertson High and Finally To Sun Valley Where She Will GraduateThis Spring. Dr Shaun Poole is An Outstanding Principal. The County is Blessed to Have Him. The Support Staff and Volunteers are so Helpful, Kind and Caring. The Teachers seem to Enjoy Their Jobs and Their Students. They All Go Out Of Their Way to Help, Resolve and Get The Job Done. I Heard they are Building A New School. It Seems To Me That The People In This County Think that Their Money and Time And Talents Get The Better of Schools. Sun Valley is A Gem!!! Yes it's old and Not So Pretty and Shiney, But You All Heard That You Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover. A Shiney New Building Does Not Make It So Great. Our Daughter Loved It When She Was Moved to Sun Valley High School. She has Excelled and Loves Going To School. She Has Many Medical Issues. They Meet her Needs. There is a Diversity of People. We Have People Who Have Better Jobs and Homes. We Have People Who Work Around The Clock and Are Doing all they can to Make Ends Meet. But We Have Caring Giving People Who Care About Their Children and Their School. Shiney New Buildings Don't Make You The Best School. This School has a Great Mixtures of Students. We Are Grateful that she is at Sun Valley. In our Opinion Our Daughter Goes To The Best , Loving Caring School in The County. That Means So Much To Us. Shiney New Schools, You Have No Idea What You Are Not Getting. Keep Being The Best Sun, Valley High School. You Rock!!!!"
"I went to SVHS in 9th and 10th grade. I made good grades and encountered some good and some bad teachers. At the time, there was a significant overflow problem causing students to have to attend class in trailers and share lockers. This could have changed since then but I do remember that the football program wasn't very good and the soccer team was stacked with the coach's favorite players."
