Reviews of Western North Carolina School of Massage
"For my "mid-life awakening" I sold my house and moved to Asheville specifically to attend WNCSOM. (I toured several schools in NC and THIS was the school that checked all the boxes and just felt right!) I was incredibly anxious as you can imagine to start over in a new city and a new career. I am SO GRATEFUL I landed at WNCSOM. It was the perfect place for me at the perfect time. All of the instructors are amazing. Supportive, smart, kind...like having your very own cheer team leading you on, believing in you and teaching you all you could ever imagine learning! Hope DeVall is an amazing leader and human. My life is forever changed for the better from this experience with these people - including all of my classmates! Made friends for life, too!"
"I attended WNCSOM from May 2022 to May 2023. I was extremely nervous coming into this. Everyone here made me feel like a belonged. There was never a time that I felt like I didn’t belong. This school truly changed me in ways I couldn’t imagine. For that I am forever grateful. The program itself is amazing. I felt so prepared for the day that I took my MBLEX."
"Very close family, you have a one on one chance with licensed practicing instructors who are very experienced. I could say wonderful things about all of the instructors. Each different in styles and perspective so you get a broad teaching. Loved it, highly recommend for anyone interested just go for it! Hope, who owns the school and is very experienced, also puts a lot of time in teaching classes and is always around if you have any questions!"
"I attended this school from January-August this year, and I’d like to share my experience growing alongside this community. The key word there is community. Class size is around 20 people, and they quickly became close friends. Many encouraging friendships were cultivated during my 6 months in school, and we still get together monthly. The teachers (Hope, Christine & Darren) show true intentionality in the way that they guide you through this journey. You will learn A&P in depth, have comprehensive knowledge of how the body moves and functions, and become proficient in the art of massage. Another person to mention is Camilla, who runs the front desk. Both Christine & Camilla are the heartbeat of the school from day to day. They have experience & knowledge to help you thrive in the time spent here. The class structure is excellent, and well thought through. I was able to get to know each of the teachers as well, which turned into friendships by the end. I was shadowing a Physical Therapist at a local hospital, when I found massage as a method of treatment for many people. I quickly realized that I wanted to help people through this passion. I chose to tour WNCSOM, because the website & reviews were highlighting the medical implementation in the program. This was a requirement for me, as I desire to make an impact in relieving pain & discomfort in people’s lives. After the tour, I knew that I’d be fully investing into this program. I just took my state exam, the MBLEX, and passed on the first try. My sense of readiness going into the exam was a result of the incredible journey through this program. If you are considering massage as a pathway of your life, I strongly encourage you to call & set up a tour. WNCSOM made a great impact on my life."
"I have booked several student massages here over the past year, and every experience has been uniquely different with each student! The appointments fill up quickly, so I always keep a close eye on my email to book online as soon as student clinic opens. The school itself is beautiful, the staff if always helpful and the student massages are some of the best massages I've ever had. Thank you for being a positive part of West Asheville!"
