The Old Rock School

The Old Rock School, located at 400 Main Street West in Valdese, North Carolina, is a cultural destination offering new and exciting exhibitions, programs, and art education for adults and children. Founded in 1984 under the sponsorship of the Jailhouse Gallery, the Rock School Arts Foundation (RSAF) has been dedicated to promoting the arts in the community. With annual exhibitions and classes, RSAF aims to share the importance of creativity and imagination. The institution also hosts special events, such as the Annual Open Art Competition and productions from Opera Carolina. Operating as a non-profit organization, RSAF is committed to expanding the arts in Valdese with the support of its dedicated board and Executive Director, Sharon Bowman. Visit the Old Rock School Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and on weekends by appointment, to experience the magic of art and creativity.

"We go to the Christmas tree lighting and watch our grandchildren sing carols. Always a wonderful time. The rock also offers many other cultural events. Highly recommend you check it out if you visit Valdese!"

"Love the small town feel and that's the real reason I have moved from central Florida to here. We are so so happy to have found this area with like minded family folks! Edit: We have been here about a year and have visited the Old Rock School on many occasions. From our Granddaughter's school choir singing Christmas Carols on the front steps to watching our Grandson playing football on the feild in back of the school and everything between. The feel of community is alive and well here. Come and join us for the next event, you will not be disappointed. I have other reviews, follow me, and see if one can help you plan your next adventure."

"We went to the Old Rock School to watch the Old Colony Players in the play "A Christmas Carol". The auditorium was so nice & the seats were comfortable! We really enjoyed the play! Scrooge was wonderful! All of the actors were so good!"
