"I don’t know where to start. My visit was seven hours. There were lots of people in the waiting room. I can understand the wait, as I know there is a lot of sickness going on right now. My immunity is low, due to having lymph nodes removed and radiation due to breast cancer. I finished my treatment two years ago. Regardless, I get sick very easily and I’m susceptible to infections. Also, I have some lymphedema in my right arm from the treatments. My visit was due to pain, swelling, redness and warmth in my right elbow. I had not hit or scratched my arm. My oncologist told me to go to the ER right away because my joint could be septic. In triage, my temp was only 99.2 but as I told them, I had taken Motrin before I came. Once in the back, the PA ran a lot of tests which I appreciated. There were inflammatory markers, but she said nothing crazy. A couple of blood cultures were done to check for infection. I was told they wouldn’t be in until the next day. It’s been almost three days and they are still not in. Anyway, the only way I could get an antibiotic after my long wait was for PA to get a fluid sample from my elbow. I was told it’s a small joint, she had never done it before ( I appreciate the honesty) and there is a chance no fluid could be extracted. Mind you, this arm is not supposed to have any needle pokes, BP taken or anything that would compress my arm, due to the chance for swelling that will not go away. With the blood cultures not back, I was only given an RX for Motrins big brother. PA said we would have tests back next day and if positive she’d call in antibiotics.( again, tests still not back) When nurse came in for discharge, she tried to wrap my arm. I told her I cannot have it wrapped. On my discharge paperwork, the lower number on my BP was 106. I didn’t notice until I got home, it was not mentioned to me. Any health info at this visit was given voluntarily by me, they didn’t ask me for my health history or medications. Luckily, I got an appt with my Dr the next morning and got an prescription for an antibiotic until we get the cultures back. I understand the concern for antibiotic resistance but my case is different. I’m unsure of the standard of care, but letting a patient go that is at risk of sepsis with no antibiotic or even admitting them and start IV antibiotics doesn’t sit well with me. I’m feeling much better after starting the antibiotic my Dr gave me. Trying to poke and wrap an arm that had had nodes out is not good. Thank you for reading."
"If I could give negative stars I would. Went there today under the instructions of the ER doctor from 3 days ago, missing my lumbar puncture which was fine. But my symptoms returned even worse today to where my vision is going out and my blood pressure is at stroke level to try to get another lumbar puncture as I was instructed at my last visit. I was in so much pain between my head and my back where the failed lumbar puncture was. I was there 4 hours and didn't receive any kind of care whatsoever. Not another try at an LP, NO medicine for fix my pain for my blood pressure and was discharged. I was so upset that I asked to speak to the charge nurse who was rude as hell. She wrote down the patient advocate number for me and when I asked for the attending physicians name she said it's on your paperwork and walked out rolling her eyes. I've never been treated so badly by a hospital not even cape fear. The doctor on duty refused to even come in and see me or do a lumbar puncture because he was already "too overwhelmed". Maybe he should seek a different career path and this should not be considered a hospital because if they can't even manage a lumbar puncture how the hell are they going to save you if you're dying? WILL NOT RETURN. Loved this hospital until today. What a shame."
"The receptionist was inviting and friendly, Triage nurse, not so much. The wait time at this facility is extremely long. I do understand prioritizing , however, a routine check of those patients they consider less urgent would help monitor their conditions. I watched my Mom go from ok to worse during the 3hr+ wait. We did not see a provider at this location."
"I am use to military and VA medical care so every time I come to a civilian hospital I am amazed at how pleasant and different the care is. I came for a CT early on a Saturday and everyone treated me so nice and genuinely seemed to be caring. Got to say, I like the treatment! The Fayetteville VA could definitely learn some lessons from this place!"
"We have gone here with all three of our boys and have never received anything but exceptional care. Recently my 18 month old fell and hit his head. The nursing staff was amazing, attentive and understanding.. Dr. Sonny was incredibly kind, treated my son with such care and truly went above and beyond to make sure we we understood the procedures, precautions and reasons for testing. Very grateful to have such exceptional care in Raeford!"
