Reviews of Reid Heart Center
"Such a professional staff at this Hospital. Had a dear friend that had surgery emergency surgery at the main hospital and then started having problems and they transferred him over to the heart and kidney center. The staff there was unbelievably good. They explained everything they listened. The room and the area of the hospital was clean. They offered Mass when you first enter into the hospital and they check to see where you're going put your name down ask if they can help give you the location of most things that you might need like a Starbucks or waiting area. I was so impressed and I was there with family members so yeah I'll keep up the good work thank you so much for the work that you do."
"Our nurse Sid was so amazing and caring. My wife was in his care in the ICU and was a life saver with his compassion and attention to detail."
"Where to begin? My ex-husband and father to my two sons ended up needing a triple heart bypass, very unexpectedly. Anxious times. Stressful. A time we need a savior in our lives. In steps a knowledgeable and discerning angel with the title of Thoracic Surgeon... Dr. Peter I. Ellman. I have been thru numerous medical storms with my large family and numerous friends. NUMEROUS!!! The care, concern, and treatment given by the staff at Reid Heart Center is A#1. MATT, Brandy & Sidney are rockstar ICU nurses. Al is in ICU tonight. Stable. Safe. Eating. Breathing. Alive to hopefully see our youngest walk down the aisle one day. Maybe welcome a new grandchild or two into the world...fingers crossed. Hope is the gift we were given. Hope is priceless. Dr. Ellman is one of a kind. Unexplainable how much consideration he offers to his patients and their loved ones. Many know me in the video world. I can read people like no other. Dr. Ellman was pulling for Al....willing him to make a full recovery. We sit here tonight not knowing how our story will end.....knowing we have a real team cheering us on. No matter the outcome, I have the peace of knowing #teamreidheartcenter gave us all there is to offer. Stepped up to the plate. How do you say thank you for so much?! I say it by saying may my God bless each one who had a part in Al's care. May He bless you as greatly as you have blessed our family. And yes, it's wort1h driving thru your county to the next or even 3 counties over. Maybe 5.... Update: So far, our story is going better than we could have imagined. Almost 2 weeks post op. He is up and moving. Once home with much encouragement, he has improved in leaps and bounds. Al can be a bit on the negative side on a good day. Cheerleaders help. Eating well. Energy increasing. The light can be seen at the end of the tunnel. FirstHealth Home Care Nurse is wonderful. Could not ask for anything more. I would wish this same outcome for all patients. In a perfect world. Prayer definitely helped , too. I am forever grateful for the skilled surgeon's hands and caring bedside manner. Update II: Everything is going exceptionally well. If I were ever in need of heart surgery, Dr. Ellman would be the Dr I would seek out for care. We went for his post-op appointment this week....everything is going as well as anyone could expect. In my life experience, I have only once before felt this kind of confidence in the abilities of a medical team. All I can say is my family has been blessed by each person we came in contact with at Reid Heart Center. I am a skeptical person when it comes to today's medical system. I prefer old school care. I haven't been disappointed any step of the way. Last update: he finished the home nurse making visits this week. He is feeling so much better than before the triple bypass... more energy and much improved breathing. Our family will be forever grateful and thankful for the time we will share in the future. One suggestion... I do have to say if I were to hope anything would change, it would be the number of traveling nurses involved with all medical offices and hospitals. I did notice that on several occasions, the nurses did not know where to find things, and that could be critical to life in certain situations. Plus, it is only driving up the cost of medical care and separating families. Everywhere you go, all the medical facilities are full of traveling nurses. Here, one day there the next. Seniority meant something long ago and was rewarded. Now, the reward goes to the opposite. Suggestion to the patient on the drive home....sit in the back seat and place your heart pillow between you and the seat belt. In case there is an accident, this could save you. Especially people like us who have quite a drive home. This suggestion was not given to us, and I wish it had been. Good advice I found thru research. I am trying to create a personal review that I would have appreciated at the start of our ordeal. For those facing the unknowing times ahead. Thank you, Reid Heart Center!!!"
"My Dad is here having a very serious open heart surgery! My Mom is elderly and needs help walking, understanding, etc. The front desk lady is extremely RUDE! I understand limits in visitation but this is uncalled for!!! she told us we had to sit outside in the 90 degree weather. Drive hours for your dad's open heart surgery and sit outside????? Why can't we sit in the foyer area?Such rudeness on a very serious day. Never again, we will go elsewhere.!!"
"My mom was in Reid Heart Center for 9 days. Even though she still passed away from sepsis, the staff on the 3rd floor went above and beyond providing such amazing care. Dr. Kelly was phenomenal, never giving up. Our entire family appreciates all the hard work and we feel that she got the best medical care that she could have gotten anywhere. We would also like to thank Dr. Belanger who also provided input. The Beatty Family!"
