Reviews of Piedmont Medical Center
"I paid a visit to the emergency room here on 10/7/23 due to an extremely painful sprained ankle. X-rays showed nothing broken. It was very obvious that I was in extreme pain and my ankle was the size of a soft ball. This place sent me home with an ace bandage and put “minor sprain” on my discharge papers. Now over 3 months later, the orthopedic doctor I’ve been seeing since then has scheduled an MRI. Results from MRI show 3 torn ligaments and a split tendon. Grade 3 sprain and now I’m scheduled for surgery!!! The nurse/doctor that saw me at Piedmont didn’t seem to care and they didn’t even give me a Boot! I have good insurance too and paid my copayment. NEVER AGAIN PIEDMONT"
"Went to Piedmont on 1/30 at 4am, they were not busy at all. The triage room nurses were super friendly, but the service here is very poor. After my vitals were took, I waited for hours to finally be given some Tylenol for pain and then a then a nice lady took me back for a chest X-ray. Finally a nurse practitioner came out to the lobby and told me what they thought was wrong with me(in the Lobby now). I never went back to a room, they gave me some discharge papers and sent me home the same way I arrived ( very sick and couldn’t breathe). I ended up at Chester ER where I got some help.i thought a hospital is where you go to get help!"
"Well to begin with I brought my wife into the ER Three days in a row to seek help because she couldn't hardly walk or talk and getting weaker. The first visit was 8 hours long and she got medically cleared to go home with the diagnosis of dehydration. The next day was not any better because we sat for 13 hours and was told she would be a social worker hold and there were no beds at midnight. The social worker wasn't going to be in until 830 am so I took my wife back home and brought her back the next morning. I was then threatened to have the police called on me if I didn't take her out of the hospital because the social worker said there was was nothing medically wrong with my wife. She demanded that I leave with my wife and I told her I would leave but I wasn't taking my wife because she needed medical attention. The social worker told me she would have me arrested for abandonment. After twenty minutes of arguing with her I decided to take my wife to Charlotte for medical treatment since trying 3 days here and getting no help and support from the staff here. While I was about to leave the ER head nurse was looking at her labs and told me to bring her back in for more labs. They realized at that point that my wife was in need of help. They admitted her and the next day she went into cardiac arrest. I thank God she survived but she had to be put on a ventilator for two weeks and didn't wake up for about 10 days. Now that we are out of ICU and in PCU the staff is still not responding to her needs as they should. She is incapable of calling a nurse because she is very weak and can't push the call button. They don't check on her as often as they should and when she does ask for help you never know when they will come back to help. I was in her room and she was in pain. I asked the nurse on duty what time she was scheduled to get pain meds and he said he would be able to come back at 11 am. At noon I called him back to get her pain medicine that he forgot about at 11 and didn't see him until 1230. I will be glad to get her away from here and hopefully get the care she needs instead of these people making both of us feel like we're just being a bother."
"They will keep you from your family if you personally offend anyone there! Nevermind the total chaos it is in there. People in beds in the halls. Left out my Dads blood for hours and didn’t come to get it so they had to retake. Had my Mother in as the wrong name and then wouldn’t allow us in because we couldn’t give the correct name. I have never seen such an angry man as head of security. My Dad is seeking legal on them along with myself and daughter. They gave antiviral drugs that are dangerous and have recalls to my Mother that my Dad did not agree to. When I told head of security that I wanted them moved- I literally thought he was going to throw me against the wall. He made us leave while he was visibly shaking. Major anger issues. Then I was allowed back in by one of the other nurses. The abuse continued as they kept reminding me that my Mother was only my step Mother! Then I was told, when asking for food for my father(after walking back and forth to both parents separate rooms the entire time) that I wasn’t to leave his room again. The head nurse at the desk was so rude and the other nurses made faces at her for how she was acting. I was afraid to ask for any help for my parents thinking that they were going to arrest me at any minute. Health care should not be like this for my elderly Parents. We were also told by their doctor that there were no beds and that he had patients there in the ED still from 48 hours ago. However, their doctors were great, their personal nurses, ultrasound technician, and the EKG technician were great! It was their floor management, the visitor desk and head of security- need some review. My parents, nor any of my family will ever go back to Piedmont Medical again."
