Reviews of Union General Hospital
"Mother was brought by ambulance to Union General Hospital. Because we were told they only had 1 ambulance running in the county on Christmas. She has now been in the ER for over 14 hours in a bed that has many a 1" mattress on it. And after having major surgery at another hospital. And not being qualified to care for her here. We are still not being given an answer when she will be transported back to the other hospital. Her ER room is very dirty. And the ceiling looks to have been leaking. And one of the tiles on the ceiling looks as if it's starting to grow mold. Not to bring up the dried blood on the floor that is not hers. And she was never given her nurse call light. And they didn't come around to check on her. Till I had to go get them. If there was an option for less than 1 star that is what I would give. And they advertise as being in the top 100 hospitals. I would like to know what for. This is not the first time our family has been given bad care here. We do drive to bigger hospitals when health allows it. I wouldn't recommend this place for dogs."
"When I say that care cannot get worse than what people are given here I absolutely mean it. How this is a fully operational hospital is beyond me, it would wise to travel the extra distance to a larger and more capable Hospital even for the most basic of medical needs as this one is lacking knowledgeable and sympathetic Doctors. This place is the epitome of negligence and incompetence. I will say my personal encounter with the nurses was great as I felt they were genuine and working to the best of their abilities."
"Union used to be the only hospital I would go too. Not anymore I will not waste my time not my families. My grandpa was brought in Wednesday at 12:30 pm, with suspected mrsa, severe infection, on top of him being a diabetic. We were sent to the hospital by wound care. 12:30 we walked in and didn’t get called back till 5:45. Myself and my grandpa who’s a diabetic was absolutely starving, I asked the nurse if I could get him some food, she stated she would ask the doctor, well another hr or so go by nothing, so I go find her at the nurses station, ask again, as she is eating her food, she says she doesn’t know. The doctor comes in explains that my grandpa is gonna lose his toe, possibly his foot also from the infection, and states he will have to be transferred out. Well I ask her if he could eat she said yes, she will get him something. She was great. Another few hours go by at that point I went and asked the rude nurse if how much longer it would be before he’s transported. She completely had a melt down, in no way shape or form was I meaning to come off as rude, she said I was. It’s now 9pm and we got there at 12:30 and supposed to be transferring to another hospital. We have the right to ask questions. She was completely unprofessional. Luckily my grandpa was transferred and COMPLETED misdiagnosed by UNION. He has severe gout, and will keep his foot."
"This review is for the ER department only. A few months ago I took my husband to the ER as his blood pressure was very high and he was having chest pains. When we got to the hospital, they took him back to the triage and took his blood pressure and it was 235/135. He was told this is a little high and sent him back out in the waiting room for two hours. When we finally got called back in a room, the only thing that was done was to give him a nitroglycerin tablet. They kept on taking his blood pressure and it was still very High, 198/119. They did not start an IV or do anything else. The nurse practitioner came in with his hands in his pockets stood there and just asked my husband what was going on. My husband told him and he said well that blood pressure cuff is too little for you. And walked out. We never saw him again or another doctor. They just left him to lay in there until I finally went out and told them we were leaving because they were not doing anything for him and he was getting more agitated just laying there. We came home and his blood pressure came down a little bit but this is not how you should treat someone who has stroke level blood pressure and chest pains. We will try our best to never go back to this ER department. The staff was nice but I don’t feel like they did anything they should have to help him. Then we get a bill for $1600."
"The lady taking my blood pressure last time I was there. Should not work with people or animals. I ask her twice nicely to loosen the blood pressure cuff. I have bruises from the cuff. And where she pinched me with her fingers.. look at the camera you have up and you will she the child does not need to be around human beings. Then she stomped off so up set because she was the one hurting someone. Before she stopped off, she threw the blood pressure test up against the wall..then a man come in and asked me what my problem was I’m not sure when I had one. Then another lady tell me to take my blood. I asked her to please let me sit there just one minute because I was throwing up. We can’t do that jerk me out of that room backwards. I don’t know where y’all get. This is a number one hospital but number one lie. People are rude to elder and self centered. Sad to see what health care has gone to. My brother watch the whole thing.. said his wife was treated the same way a few months ago and she was with brain cancer, sad but your people who run UNION GENERAL HOSPITAL in Blairsville Georgia/ Union country. Has no bed side manor and the so call nursery you have are a joke. There is one lady who works out there been there forever in Emergency she is awesome. The rest not"
