Reviews of Blount Memorial Hospital
"They deserve no stars and should be shut down. They almost killed me, treated me horribly. I was here over a month. Nurses do not care, they gossip and don’t check or give meds on time. The most horrible place I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. I’m vomiting and the nurse just stands there looking at me. My children had to make them attend to me. I hope this place of death is shut down. I am traumatized to this day from being cared for here. Still having complications and no one knows why. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE OPERATE ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plenty of nurses, there was no shortage while I was here. They all gossip about each other and the doctors. I knew more personal things about these useless women than I did my own diagnosis. I wish I had money, because I would sue these degenerates. I wouldn’t even want money. I just want no one else to have to go through what I went through. There was blood in the bathroom and hairs. I couldn’t get up and down much due to the surgeries that I had… My surgeon was a nightmare. Melissa Trekal. The gurney I was out on had fingernails on it that someone had bitten off. The first 3 days I was here, they would not allow me to have any water. They kept saying I was gonna have surgery tomorrow. FOR 3 DAYS NO SURGEON EVER SAW ME. I was put in a room and no one came in unless I called, I was not supposed to get up on my own. But when I hit the button because I need to go to the bathroom I can’t wait 45 minutes to an hour. So I fell a few times, with double IVs in. Drinking water from hands and the sink when I could stand. But nope! Tomorrow! For 3 days I heard tomorrow. I had sepsis so bad I almost died. My husband had to get someone to find out why I still had not had surgery. They forgot about me. I could write a book about the problems, but I know this is just wasting my time even reviewing. I just hope that one person reads this and goes to UT. Especially if you have kids, I couldn’t imagine taking my loved ones here."
"Blount Memorial Hospital saved my husband’s life. He had a very rare emergency medical condition. The ER doctors, nurses and staff worked together amazingly, and with the expertise of the surgeon and the post surgery doctors, they saved my husband. My husband was given 20 units of blood and 6 units of plasma, just to give an idea of how dire his condition was. Twelve days later, he will be coming home tomorrow. Every employee at BMH was amazing and so kind to us including the employees working in the cafeteria. I will forever be so grateful."
"This is not the hospital it used to be. Requests of patient or loved one dismissed (saying I will be right back with that) . Bed pan poop left in bathroom 2 days so far . Nursing staff ( on 4rh floor) not responsive to needs of patient . Loved ones staying with patient made to feel unwelcome. Patient care is not put first . We were told pillows are scarce. Pillows are scarce??? Nurses are scarce."
"My family member was on 4 North. We were pleased with the quality of care given by the specialists. There was excellent communication between the various specialties and each doctor/NP took the time to explain their rationale for medications prescribed and tests ordered. Also pleased with the ER staff who performed life-saving measures and were very professional. In general, the nurses and CNAs on 4 North were average — a couple of them went the extra mile — but we had a terrible experience with one of the night nurses. She was an angry, seemingly unstable individual who shouldn’t be working in patient care. She also made medication errors because she was so emotional and flustered. One other thing: Blount doesn’t know much about management of diabetes. They will insist that you follow their sliding scale — and then act surprised when your blood sugar stays over 500."
"Was in the ER on Christmas with a horrendous kidney stone. I'd been in a car wreck the night before and was having neck pain as well. After being tossed into the lobby for Two hours. Crying my eyes out from the pain. I was finally taken to a room. Where I laid crying in terrible pain for 4 hours. The nurse finally came in and offered Tylenol, And said I would have to wait for the Dr for anything else. It's Christmas we re short staffed. I get it, understand I didn't choose to be there on Christmas. with 3 kids at home missing the very Christmas I worked so hard to give them They took me back for a CT scan. With no identification. Finally the Dr came in told me I had the kidney stone and C7 hairline fracture. I was finally moved to the better part of the Er. Where a nurse was in shock I'd been there so long with 0 help. I ended up being transferred to Ut hospital to see a specialist. 0 compassion or care was shown my way. I will never ever go back there. But they will be sure to bill me for their horrible service."
