Reviews of Second Baptist Daycare & Development
"We are delighted to share our overwhelmingly positive experience with Second Baptist Daycare, as it has been nothing short of exceptional. As a parent, choosing the right daycare for your child is a significant decision, and I can confidently say that Second Baptist has exceeded all my expectations. From the caring staff to the enriching environment, every aspect of this daycare has contributed to my child's development and well-being. First and foremost, the staff at Second Baptist Daycare are compassionate, dedicated, and highly qualified individuals who truly understand the needs of children. Their nurturing approach creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere where my child feels safe and loved. It's heartwarming to see the genuine smiles on their faces as they greet my child each day. Their commitment to providing a stimulating educational environment while ensuring individual attention is commendable. Second Baptist has also impressed me with its emphasis on comprehensive learning and development. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration, curiosity, and creativity in children. Our daughter comes home excitedly sharing the new things she has learned, from engaging arts and crafts projects to fun educational activities that stimulate her growing mind. I am grateful for the well-rounded education she's received while under the care of the dedicated teachers at Second Baptist Daycare. Furthermore, the facility itself is meticulously maintained and equipped with age-appropriate toys, books, and educational resources. The daycare's emphasis on cleanliness and safety, especially during the pandemic, ensures a healthy environment for all the children. The outdoor play area is not only safe but also offers ample space for physical activity and social interaction, fostering friendships among the children. Now, regarding some negative reviews that may have been posted, it is important to remember that daycare experiences are influenced by numerous factors, including parental involvement. It would be unfair to attribute all negative reviews to the daycare alone. Parenting plays a vital role in shaping a child's behavior and development, and it is crucial for parents to actively participate in their child's experience at daycare. We highly recommend Second Baptist Daycare to parents seeking a nurturing and enriching environment for their children. The dedicated staff, comprehensive curriculum, and focus on a child's overall development make it an exceptional daycare center. Our child's growth, happiness, and enthusiasm are a testament to the positive impact of Second Baptist Daycare."
"Let me start by saying, until my son was in the two year old room we didn’t have issues with this daycare. Once my child started in the two year old room, it was a completely different story. Prior to this he had the best teachers; Mrs. Donna, Mrs. Gladys, Ms. McKenzie, Mrs. Sam, Mrs. Kelly, and Ms. Shirley just to name a few. All of these women loved and accepted my son. This daycare does not have competent, experienced teachers in the older rooms. I was told by the director that my child was burning out staff in his room. He was doing typical two year old behaviors. These behaviors included not wanting to sit for lessons, running, climbing, going into the bathroom. Testing boundaries as typical two year olds do. The kids in this room are made to do unrealistic activities that are not age appropriate whatsoever. His lead teacher was “in tears” having to deal with him per the director. I met with 2 of the teachers and director and felt ganged up on and bullied. The attitude towards my son was absolutely heartbreaking. The body language when speaking about my son was so off. My son is extremely speech delayed and they did not know how to work with kids with any types of delays. The director also informed me in a very nasty way that his speech therpaist that visits at daycare, “wants to walk out and quit after working with him every day”. This just goes to show the attitude towards my son. When he would do things they did not like, his “punishment” was to be removed from his peers and taken for a walk or to the office. This just fed into his mindset that he can do these things and be able to have one or two on one attention from the director and assistant director. I was told they tried many interventions, however, on one instance I watched them ignore him for 8 minutes during lesson time before anyone tried to teach and model that he needed to sit. Furthermore, he was doing very well with potty training. They did not allow him to go to the bathroom because it was a “behavior”. He regressed and cries anytime we try to have him sit on the potty because of how he was treated for simply going into the bathroom. Although I asked for honesty on his day, the teachers had a nasty attitude and body language when they would speak to ME about my own child. No one should ever be made to feel the way they made me feel about my son. I felt sick and guilty leaving him here. The attitude started as soon he joined the two year old room. He was present in the room less than 30 days when they informed my husband and I he was no longer welcomed and was being kicked out. A two year old needs time to get used to new rooms, teachers, kids, and expectations. However, they did a poor job at doing so. During our meeting, we were told our child with a 11 month expressive and receptive speech delay “has to be told 6-7 times to do something” when other kids “listen the first few times.” When I looked at the camera, I see other kids doing the same things they say he is doing, the lead teacher told me that it’s because they see my child doing it. Blaming all the behaviors or 17 other kids on my one child. My child was being compared to kids who were almost 3, although, he was one of the youngest 2s in the room. We were told my son was not able to come back the week before Christmas. As other places are closing for holidays and unable to speak about openings. Their timing was extremely unprofessional along with their reasonings. Save your time, money, sanity and emotions and send your child elsewhere."
"I cannot say enough great things about everyone here at the daycare. They truly do care about the health and safety of all the kids. The place is always clean and extremely organized. They have a system in place and stick to it daily. My daughter smiles each morning when she see's everyone! It's so comforting to know that she's happy there. The camera system is easily accessed to check-in on my child at anytime. Truly truly and awesome place."
"If you’re looking for a babysitting environment, convenience, a clean and safe facility, and the ability to see your child during the day on the cameras then this is a good place for you. If you’re looking for a teaching environment where your child learns then I recommend you look elsewhere. My experience/perception after 3 years of being there is as follows: -communication was poor -the teacher turnover was significant -teacher training was nonexistent - training consisted of how to complete the kids daily sheet and things related to the schedule rather than positive reinforcement, curriculum: they just colored things and spend approximately 30 minutes a day Being “taught” things -educational requirement for teachers was lacking/non-existent -will not developmentally advance 3-year olds and above from the 2-year old classroom If they have wetting accidents only at nap time -disconnect between management (Kristie, Lisa, and Kiera) I challenged this management team to understand my options regarding my child’s advancement opportunity de to her just having accidents during nap. I followed her guidance to take my child to the doctor to be medically evaluated but report came back normal. Doctor said just takes time Ms Kristie communIcated to me in front of Lisa and Kiera that they “are a private facility and can do what they want”. I guess that’s why they opt out of being star rating. Fellow parents this is your choice but please choose wisely. Wonder why Belmont has two-year waiting lists for children but Second Baptist Daycare just 10 miles away can magically get kids in within a matter of weeks?"
"My daughter loves going to daycare here! Her teachers love her, they have a great daily schedule, and she's learning so much every day. She's safe and well cared for. She will be ready for kindergarten when it's time for her to go."
