Pickens Elementary School

"STAY FAR AWAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!! My son has an IEP which was neglected and never used to help my son. He was denyed services that the NEEDS...hence the IEP. Faculty decided they did not like my son so they profiled my family. My husband works out of state and makes extremely good money so we live in a nice house and a nice car. I also have my nose pierced which was used as lible context to slander my family. Ms Hardin, the principal decided to call CPS on my family because she said I was neglecting my children. The SRO took pix of my son and used a pink filter saying his freckles were broken capillaries from being strangled. They made slanderous comments about "she needs to be drug tested because, look at her, theres no way they can afford that house and that car"! They obviously have never seen city IT people. They claimed my daughter smelled like urine...shes the type that I baby and always has bows in her hair and ALWAYS dresses perfectly! The CPS worker laughed at them and said their comments were so jealousy based and their claims were so absurd that they were comical. She even went to her supervisor about the school and they both said I need an attorney because "they have a gun out for your son and they have NO good intentions for yall"! The school board attended a meeting and forced the school to put IN WRITING that the issues he was having was directly due to his disability (ODD and ADHD) and it occured due to a lack of enforcement of his IEP. However, they (the principal and her SRO menion) continued to call CPS with more garbage they had made up about my son's behavior. For some reason the principal believes CPS is there for kids who have discipline issues at school which stem from their ineptness as faculty for our children. We are one step from filing a lawsuit if it continues. Worst part...I have been informed by officials that this is common practice at Pickens Elementary. They further said no one has financial funding to take the school on so it continues. Their response is to record my son and frame him for things. They suspend him for being "rude and disrespectful" after they put their hands on my child! They claimed there was no video because "there was no cameras on the playground"...however, a week later, they claimed they have videos of him being "too rowdy" on the playground! My other child has learned NOTHING this year either! Her teacher is amazing but for some reason, my daughter is stated as not being able to read at all and is not progressing. Oddly though, I sat with her for 20 minutes and she picked up 5 words. She gets awards at the school for her disposition and her willingness to learn... so... It's the absolute worst, most horrific and neglectful school I have EVER been in contact with!"

"I know and love many of the teachers that work there, especially Mrs. Lynn Williams. She had taught me for many years in both Gifted/Talented and Physical Education. She is a wonderful and loving person. Please disregard any negative comments about her, whoever would say some that nonsensical is obviously misinformed about whatever they think is a problem. Please acknowledge the work these wonderful teachers commit to and cherish them. Thank you for reading."
