Reviews of Hey Clinic for Scoliosis and Spine Care
"Hi! There are not enough words to recommend Hey Clinic! My therapist Andreia was extremely patient with me, correcting my posture consistently, and ensuring the proper form. She was able to recognize and target my problem areas. Let us just say that when I started, when I would bend to touch the ground with my legs straight, my fingers would not reach the ground without pain. Now, within a month, I am painlessly able to reach the ground with my legs straight without a wince. Patricia is the most welcoming person!!! She makes you feel that you are home. She answers all your questions, and is always clear and Direct. Very professional. Everyone always has a smile on their face and is always so welcoming and willing to help. They deserve 10 stars. This is the best Pilates studio in Parede, after having a personally horrific experience with another pilates studio in the area, Lisboa, and Cascais."
"I believe the best compliment and review I can give for the Hey Clinic is that I am always happy and excited when I get there, and always sad when it is time to leave. I'm not sure I have ever felt that way about any other visit to a doctor! I love everything about Dr. Hey and his staff! The Hey Clinic lives, breathes, and emulates compassionate and patient focused care. I have never had a single negative, or even less than stellar, interaction with any staff member at the Hey Clinic. They set the highest bar for any medical facility to endeavor to achieve. My journey with the Hey Clinic began in December of 2022 when I sought out an x-ray of my back at the urging of my family doctor after increasing complaints about back pain. To my shock and surprise, I discovered I had two severe curves in my spine. I had known since middle school that I had scoliosis, but I had been discharged from care (by a different doctor) in college with the assurance that my case was mild and shouldn't progress. That was wrong. Dr. Hey walked me through the advancements in knowledge about adult scoliosis and progression and then discussed all of the options for correction from physical therapy to spinal fusion surgery. We both agreed that a conservative first approach was best, so I began Schroth physical therapy. That is when I met the single most caring, nurturing, and talented medical professional I have ever been blessed to know, Jessie Giddings. Jessie guided me through the Schroth physical therapy techniques with care, determination, and patience. She pushed me when I needed a push, and cared for my pain when I had a bad day. We fought hard together against the progression of pain and the degeneration of my condition celebrating the victories and lamenting when my pain issues would not subside. I never felt abandoned or alone on my journey with Jessie there. She was and still is my advocate! My journey eventually found Dr. Hey and I having a shared discussion about the potential need for spinal fusion. Dr. Hey laid out all of the information I could possibly wish to ask for, and then gave my family and me the space and time to make this important and difficult decision. Ultimately, I elected to have spinal fusion surgery. Prior to surgery, Nadine Kramer kept in constant contact with me about my upcoming surgery answering my questions and getting me whatever I needed. Nadine was always a friendly and caring voice on the other end of the phone. On the morning of the surgery, Dr. Hey held hands with me and my family in prayer. He and his staff in the operating room kept their word about texting my wife every hour during the surgery. Then Dr. Hey spent no less than 20-30 minutes with my wife and mother in the waiting room, post-op, answering their questions. I never saw Dr. Hey less than once a day (often twice) while in my hospital room recovering. And I rejoiced when he told me in my hospital room that Jessie had seen my post-op x-rays and was pleased. My advocate had given her stamp of approval on the outcome of my surgery! I knew I was in good hands and would still have my advocate in future physical therapy appointments once discharged. Once discharged, Nadine called weekly for the first few weeks to check on me. Her always kind and caring voice was so helpful on my road to recovery and I knew the Hey Clinic was there for me every step of the way. I write this glowing recommendation 28 days and 15 hours after a T4-L4 spinal fusion. I write it at home in relative comfort and with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. No one wants scoliosis or severe problems with their spine that affects the quality of their life. However, with the Hey Clinic there is hope, care, compassion, expertise, and the highest quality staff anyone could ever hope to find!"
"I went to this clinic inspecting to be treated fairly and it was the totaled opposite I was treated like I don't matter didn't even review my charts from my doctors office which shows my whole spine grows in a s shape in stead the Dr decide to put on my paperwork lower back pains and I feel like he just brushed me off and I hate to say do to the color of my skin but that is how it felt when he talked to the white couple he talk to them like they where worth his time and I wasn't tells me to lose weight instead of giving me things to do help out my condition. I only gave a star because they wouldn't let me post it. staff was great Dr was the problem"
"If we could give Doctor Hey and his entire office staff at Hey Clinic for Scoliosis and Spine Care in NC, ONE MILLION stars we would. We want to post online everywhere so that others in need can benefit from his expertise and superb professionalism. We scheduled a visit with Doctor Hey’s office, where X-rays were taken, and we had a relaxed informative 1:1 conversation with Doctor Hey, who answered everything and anything we had on our mind. He presented evidenced based data/hard copy data which showed the potential progression if left untreated. Not once did we feel rushed or pushed in one direction or the other. His approach was to provide data-based information, let us know there were options and let us figure out what works for us. He was the most professional, humble, and kind doctor (and human!) in every way. From the moment we left his office we talked about how thankful we were to have found him. My daughter's surgery was scheduled for August 1st. In the months/weeks leading up to the surgery we had direct access to the office with our questions. Of course, I nervous beyond belief at ‘what could potentially go wrong, were we making the right decision, would she be able to return to herself, sports, swimming, life etc.’. Both of us felt supported the entire time. The surgery date came…we met with Doctor Hey before going into surgery and I was advised I would be getting updates every hour– wow I wasn’t expecting that and what a relief that the calls came! After surgery Doctor Hey let me know, everything went well and gave me details regarding next steps, expectations etc. The stay at the hospital was excellent. Doctor Hey visited my daughter (us) every single day multiple times (I don’t know when this man sleeps, honestly what dedication to his patients and their families). We had a very clear understanding of what to do and the medication schedule she was going to be released with. The nurses at the hospital also had the most amazing things to say about Doctor Hey. They told us he has very specific paperwork with his own instructions which is so rare (because he knows what works) and he absolutely is the best of the best. Thankfully, the paperwork had everything spelled out, so I didn’t have to think or worry about anything post-surgery. All I had to do was focus on the schedule and take care of my daughter. We followed everything and my daughter was never in pain that could not be managed. She was off medication just shy of 10 days. The entire time, I had direct access with Doctor Hey. Truly unheard of. Since the surgery my daughter has continued to progress unbelievably (as Doctor Hey said she would). She is 3 months post op, she is back to participating in basketball without restrictions and living the best life, pain-free! We feel that Doctor Hey and his expertise, along with his gift of communication, holistic approach to medical care and truly caring about his patients have made all the difference in the world. My daughter will go on to live her life with no pain anymore, knowing that she had the best surgeon and human-being taking care of her. We are so blessed to have met Doctor Hey and will be eternally grateful. In summary – Absolutely the BEST spine care doctor is Doctor Hey. We feel like we were his only patient throughout this journey. Doctor Hey’s entire staff reflects his consummate professional personal caring approach to his patients and their families. We are so blessed to have this man, Doctor Hey in this region and for gifts/skills that he continues to share with every patient and family he touches. Thank you from Kiki and her entire family for her pain-free health and happiness, which is a direct result of Doctor Hey and everyone at the Hey Clinic for Scoliosis and Spine Care. Doctor Hey is and will always be a member of our medical family. Brightest blessing always and forever - Truly the BEST in every way."
