"First of all, the last principal (Debra Scott) was amazing! She would hype us up every Friday with the "Kanoheda Cheer". Now that we have Nicole White, she decided to step things up to the "Friday Dance". But now that I am in 5th grade and moving to middle school, I've seen some bad behavior throughout the year, and basically almost ALL if the specials/ normal teachers have to discipline the students for NOTHING. One day you would be blamed by a teacher saying that "YOU HAVE SILENT LUNCH BECAUSE YOU USED YOUR PHONE IN CLASS". Staff here are better than the teachers. Some staff are quirky, others are well-minded. If you ever go to this school, please get precautionary notice, this school might not be the best option for your child if you choose to enroll your child into this school. Few teachers are taking students out for recess, this makes other students unenergized and unready for the next lesson. This makes students fail, encourage them to act badly for the school, etc. We have a lot of behavioral problems in this school. I recommend your child going to Jenkins Elem because over there, the school is giant for your student to feel free in the atmosphere because of all that space. Kanoheda here is bad.. REALLY BAD!"
"My daughter had the best kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Bordianu is an example of EXCELLENCE. My daughter loved to go to school. Her teacher would write back immediately the day i would write her. My child is very loud, but sweet and outgoing. Her teacher does well with treating each child special ACCORDING to their personality. I thought that it couldn't get any better than this. Well i was right. Her second grade teacher was very problematic. Never wrote me back, wrote cluttered notes on her behavioral calendar instead of sticky notes. Never replied to my notes or wrote back 2 days later after i spoke with the assistent principal. Most of the notes were about my daughter talking LOUD....how disappointing. I need overall behavior. My daughter is a loud expressive child. I work with her daily on that. I don't understand how my child progressed from pre-k to kindergarten, but 1st grade she's degressing. My daughter received N's her first four weeks of 1st grade. The teacher always pointed my child out ONLY because she was the loudest and the tallest, even though the ENTIRE class was loud. My daughter started late and they put her in class with children still 6 years old while my daughter was already 7!!! The only ODD BALL! I am very involved at her school and i communicate with most of the staff and I've been told that RINATO is not the best teacher. A mother pulled her daughter from Rinato's class. My daughter hardly completed her assignments, was confused about MATH. i had to go to Dr. Izard for tutoring so that i could some one on one with my child. The class went outside once a week. That is not condusive to the child to sit in school ALL DAY with no recess. She blamed my child for so much. I am very disappointed with the assistant principal, being that I've talked to her on various occasions and still no progress. I pray that There is a more patient, understanding, physically fit, teacher who loves his/her job that will be my childs 2nd grade teacher just like her pre-k and kindergarten teacher."
"I'll be honest. I'm not happy at all with this school. The teacher I'm fine with, but with the staff there I'm not happy with. I've never heard or seen a front office be empty on school time. I've gone to pick up my son plenty of times and sometimes no one is in the front office to open the door. And having to have no staff at all on Thursdays because they have a meeting sometime around "3"? I've seen that either. Very irresponsible. When last pick up time is 3:15. Last, I got a letter today that came from the cafeteria stating that starting May 1st they will no longer be charging kids for lunch and breakfast? That the students have to have money in their account after May 1st??? So you're telling me that if my child does not have money in his account, he'll have to eat just a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Hm. I'm very disappointed in the school."
"i love this school thx to mrs. sahaye, mrs frederick, mrs thomas, mrs ventura mrs, furey, and mr cummings I WENT TO THIS SCHOOL FROM 2ND GRADE UNTIL 5TH GRADE AND IT ROCKED my past experience of schools are horrible MS SCOTT YOU ROCK KEEP ON BEING A GREAT PRINCIPAL IT SUCKS THAT I HAVE TO LEAVE THE SCHOOL AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR also this is my sister's first year here too and she loves this school SHOUTOUT TO MS.COLLINS"
"I got a letter in the mail saying this school was left behind because it was not meeting the minimum standards and the county would pay me to drive my son to another school that wasn't failing. So my babie's-momma goes up and audits as a class helper to see what's wrong. Turns out half the class doesn't speak english, but some of the kids do. So some of the kids translate what the teacher is saying to the half of the kids that don't speak english. So we moved up out this piece. To where my son doesn't have to wait while the teacher is translated to the back of the class."
