"Me and a group of friends stay here 1-2x a year to kayak 3 sisters swamp which is approximately 25 minutes away. This state park is only 10 minutes from the famous White Lake and the weekend rate is unbelievable ! They have the most beautiful pier form swimming and fishing with the best sunset views. They can accommodate very large church and scout groups."
"The short walk between the dock and the bridge was one of the best-signed and most interesting educational series I've ever encountered in a state park. Bravo! I love the mystery of the Carolina bays, and all theories were discussed with pros and cons in an easy-to-follow format on the signs along the trail. The facilities are clean and well-labeled. The swimming dock is in good repair. It's a lovely place. I also used the QR reader to follow along with bay research. I'm particularity impressed when natural areas can use technology in non-invasive ways to encourage engagement. We were just road-tripping by, but if I'm ever in the area again, I'll be sure to stop and enjoy it in another season. I need to know the story behind Ipecac cabins...."
"Very pretty area, clean, people were very friendly"
"I love exploring and when you do, you find these little gems of Americana that you just don't find any other way than just getting out there and exploring. I used to do that back in the day when I rode my motorcycle all over Florida. Great walking trails and it looked like a great place to bring our kayaks! Just right up the road is a campground we plan to stay at and bring our kayaks. This site does not have RV sites, but the lake looks very promising indeed! We walked the trails, including our stroll along the dock. I love seeing the cypress trees coming up through the water, it's beautiful! If you are looking for something different to do and not too far from Wilmington, NC, (where we live) it's a nice place to get away and just be in the middle of nature! So quiet all you hear is the wind and birds, I love that! Walking around it made me think of my song, Take the Time, from my instrumental album, When Words Aren't Enough. I could hear it in my head as we walked around. Take the Time and visit here soon! You won't be sorry for doing it!"
