Reviews
"Quiet, peaceful. Great display of artifacts from the founding of the fort."
"I was expecting the buildings to actually be from the 1700s. But they were rather historically accurate replicas. Still cool, but not as cool as if they had been original. The museum (Visitor Center) was closed when we arrived, so we didn't get to see that part of the Park. But we did get to experience some of the walking trails. They were very nice, and a pleasure to walk on! Overall, it was a good experience. I recommend it to anyone, local or tourist, who enjoys history. I certainly enjoyed it!"
"I have been in Knoxville for 12 years and never knew this place was so great. They really do a fantastic job with things there. Take the kayaks out around the area. Beautiful views, especially of the Smokies in the morning. Some of the best park staff too!!"
"Interesting Colonial fort that was rebuilt during the New Deal! Beautiful area to picnic and kayak. Small, well-done visitor center and museum with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Also close to Sequoyah’s birthplace (a separate museum)."
"This dog friendly historical fort is the very best I've ever visited in my life, and my father, a history teacher, dragged me to A LOT of forts in my lifetime. The geography is stunning, the fort itself is beautifully rebuilt according to historical details. You can walk into each building, and get a feel for the quarters and facilities. The interior of the buildings is immaculate and sturdy. All structures are well maintained, the grounds are clean, and the views are gorgeous. Dogs are welcomed and accommodated. The museum is unique, intriguing and features a beautiful collection of artwork and artifacts. The rangers are educative, outgoing, personable, and happily answer any questions. They even let you bring a leashed dog into the museum! I am so thankful for such a lovely interactive experience that my children and dog could enjoy!"
