"Awesome trail, I'm 13 years old and got up the trail just fine to the falls took about 2 hours up and 2 hours back down. It isn't hard but it isn't easy also. I went a little after it snowed so there was a ton of ice, mud and snow at the last quarter mile, parking isn't too difficult if you have a 4wd vehicle you should be able to park on the side of the road a little down from the trail itself, if not it's recommended to just park in the parking places."
"Beautiful hike and well worth the trip to the falls. Definitely on the harder side of moderate in December when we went."
"Impressive falls, even more if you reach them on a sunny day to see the rainbow effect. The trail is well marked, but a little bit complicated as it is hard to climb from the parking site to the falls, as the roundtrip distance to the waterfall is 5.4 miles and I consider it difficult due to the length, elevation gain, and rocky terrain in most sections of the trail. It takes about 4 hours to hike to the waterfall and back, but if you finally manage to get there, the spectacle of the waterfall will have been worth it. Note: Consider the difficulty and time spent if you plan to visit with kids. Take enough water and something to eat."
"The Rainbow Falls hike is a tedious hike with rewarding views! Parking: We went here on a Sunday, in the afternoon (2:30pm) and we found parking about 0.6 miles away! There are 2 parking lots which can accommodate about 30 cars but they are always full, except for early morning and late evening! The hike: My husband and I exercise regularly but we are not hikers and we found this hike to be difficult. There is a gradual incline for the entire 2.7 miles and the path is full of rocks, trekking poles are helpful. Carrying drinking water is super essential especially in the summer months! Dressing light helped us too with all the heat and sweat. We took 2 hours to reach Rainbow Falls and 1.5 hours to get back down. The falls: As you come closer to the actual Rainbow falls, you get 1-2 smaller falls on your path. The falls were majestic and you have to climb many rocks to get closer to the falls. Overall we loved the experience but it took us a day to recover and do the next, easier hike!"
"First hike with the friends on our trip while in Tennessee. This place was beautiful and about a 2.7 mile hike one way so about 5.4 miles if your looking to do the whole hike like we did. It was a lot of fun and wasn’t to bad. There was 6 of us and we all enjoyed it! We also got lucky and seen a small black bear over by our cars after we finished up the hike and were munching on some post hike snacks haha!"
