Reviews of Indian Flats Falls
"4.2 miles to the falls. Once you are at about 4 miles into the hike, look for a rhododendron bush with a stone wall behind it on the right side of the trail. Behind the bush there is another overgrown trail that leads to the water falls. Easy hike except for the last .2 miles."
"Beautiful hike via the Middle Prong Trail. The trail follows the river and there are a lot of water features. This hike is relatively easy, it's a gradual incline. Normally the waterfall is split but we visited it right after a massive rainfall. We had trouble finding the trail to the falls, keep your eye out to the right for it!"
"This was worth every step and definitely one of the prettiest falls I've been to. The trail follows the river most of the way so there's plenty of little cascades to look at on the way up. The narrow path to the falls is not very well marked. I met a couple of hikers that turned around because they were not able to find the falls. They definitely missed out. The falls do not get overly busy but the rocks do get slippery. This is definitely one hike I would do again and again."
"Hidden falls. Very easy to miss the trail. 4 miles up the path is on the right and it’s very easy to miss. Trail going to falls is a little rough. Especially if you’re short. Several spots I was scooting on the rocks. Definitely worth it though. It was really nice. We had it all to ourselves for a little while. Probably busier in the summer."
"We went here on our way from Clingsmans dome to Cades cove. To get there take a left at the Great Smokey Institute sign. Continue along this Tremont Institute Road till it turns to a gravel road. Keep going straight until you reach the parking lot. The road ends in a bridge that is blocked. This is where the hike starts. The whole hike is along the Little River. There are so many waterfalls to see. It is around a 8.5 mile round trip, BUT don’t worry. You don’t need to hike the entire thing. Even within a mile, you get to see so many falls. The hike starts easy and leads to the Lynn Camp Falls. Then it gets rocky and little more challenging and leads to Indian Flat Falls. This is around 4 miles from the parking lot. The Falls is not on the main trail but on a small off-trail down the right at a switchback turn of the main trail. It is a triple falls. Go around early July if you want to see the Rhododendron blooms as well. I tuned back after about a mile hike this time, as i wanted to see Cades Cove the same day (so the pics below are only of the views on that small hike and not of the Indian Flats fall) Follow @ajitho.photography on instagram for more tips and places."
