Grandfather Mountain Overlook

"If you can you should. We were traveling through the area and Grandfather Mtn. was nearby. We made a call in advance to assure the clouds weren’t covering the view. They told us it was blue sky and clear and off we went. Glad we did. Beautiful and worth going."

"One of my favorite attributes of Grandfather Mountain is how prominent it is over the surrounding area. An instantly recognizable peak, it's visible for miles along the parkway. This overlook isn't the busiest but it does offer a really nice view, especially during leaf season."

"I came here this past weekend, and it was my last stop on the way up. While I enjoyed the view, I probably should’ve drove straight here, then stopped at the various overlooks on the way down, because by the time I reached this overlook, the numerous ones I viewed prior made this view seem less exciting. The view was still beautiful, though, and the houses in the distance were eye-catching!!"

"Grandfathers Mountian due to the high winds we did not get to go. They was having 70 to 80 mph winds at the top of the mountain, the reason we wanted to go was to see the mile high bridge. If you look closely at the last two you can see it in the pictures."
