Reviews of Pomodoro's Italian American Cafe
"This is the worst Italian food I’ve ever had! $23 a dish for lunch I was prepared to experience homemade pasta and made from scratch sauces. Instead, my marsala sauce tasted like a packet of mushroom gravy and my noodles were literally drowning in the gravy. It was gross. Honestly, that gravy was intended for a pork chop not for noodles. When I complained, they offered to make another bowl, and agreed that there was way too much sauce, but I didn’t have time for a replacement because the food was so slow the first time. Personally, I would not eat there again."
"So here's the scoop. Traditional dishes in a lovely place made by people who care. This is a small place that made me want to push the meatball with my nose to my wife. Read the other reviews on the food. It is good and what you would expect (despite the portions being a little large which I am sure others love). Truly the difference is that you can feel that this is a local place with class. The cook is heading to the CIA in NY. He could use a little focus (calamari cut a little wide making them less crisp, veal piccata a little soupy unfortunately), but we did enjoy the tastes and textures. His effort and passion is there. The waitress we had knows their food and is proudly biased :) and wants feedback to make the food and the place even better. It is refreshing to see a place like this (no formulaic shtick and no one smoking in the corner rolling silverware). Thank you for a good date night. We will be back for sure."
"We got a large Grande Deluxe pizza, and it was huge and delicious. Everything was very fresh. The greeter and server were very pleasant and friendly. Also loved the atmosphere and very tasteful decor."
"This place is better than it's location at the end of a shopping center would indicate. It wasn't busy on my visit but the service was still very good. I was checked in on enough without being bothered (perfect balance here). I had the old fashion for my drink, the first one was not all that wonderful and I felt like the bartender didn't know how to properly make one. I gave it a second chance and my second drink was the ideal old fashion, perfectly made. I had the veal masala and it was absolutely delicious, the sauce was sweet and savory, and paired perfectly with the fettuccine noodles that I got with them. The noodles tasted fresh like it was made in house. One of the surprising stars of the show was the bread that you get with the meal. Warm and soft in the middle while having the best crust on the outside. This is old school Italian food and I was very pleased with my experience here"
"For what it is - casual Italian at an affordable price point - this is a pretty good choice. Is it going to totally blow you away as a fine dining, top-tier Italian experience? No but it doesn't pretend to be that. The interior and atmosphere or character is nicer than one might expect for being in a shopping center. Not too fancy but not too casual. Food isn't bad. Respectable. Of note, it comes out really fast. If you want something casual, fast, and decent for a reasonable price point - this is a good choice. If you want the best Italian around, probably not it."
