"The stylist is very knowledgeable about caring for curly hair, but I felt like I was getting a lecture the whole time. There is a fine line between helping educate people about proper curly hair care and shaming them for trying products they thought they could trust. When I left, my hair looked greasy and awful but the stylist insisted that was because products I used at home prevented her products from penetrating my hair, not because the products she used weren't a good fit for my hair."

"Amazing cut! Joy specializes in ONLY cutting and styling CURLY HAIR... She took the time to walk me through the process and cut the curls dry. This is the first time in my adult life that I've had a cut, tailored for curly hair, and did not have to fight with the stylist not to blow out my hair. I rarely wear it straight so why would I want to leave the salon not really knowing how my curls fall? When they actually didn't blow it out, I left the salon and immediately pulled it back because my hair was a frizz ball...
