Reviews of 1897 Poe House
"Our tour guide Ruth did a great job sharing her knowledge about the Poe house and family. Charming home, well restored to its original layout."
"Wonderful. Stephanie was a Fantastic tour guide. Want to go back. It's free, nice to donate."
"Stephanie was a great guide! Very informative. Enjoyed the architecture of the home and the details inside with renovations. Easily takes you back to the time period of the Poe family. Enjoyed the free guided tour which lasted roughly 45 minutes."
"This house is dedicated to the other Edgar Allen Poe (not the poet, but a local businessman). He was an important figure in Fayetteville's history by owning the Poe Brick Company and was significant to the economy of the area. They have tours that should be resuming starting 12 November 2020, but check with the Museum of Cape Fear to verify. Suggested donations is $2 for adults and $1 for children. If you want to catch it with some Christmas decorations, they should have some wreaths and bows starting 28 November until 9 January."
"I've heard of the Poe house but never stepped foot inside. I can't believe what I've been missing this whole time! It was a wonderful experience and felt like going back in time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable in the history of the family. They do tours on every hour and it's free and lasted about an hour."
