"My first visit. Small museum but interesting visiting exhibitions. Currently a collection of contemporary southern photography. But for me, the collection of imaginary fauna from the Hokes Archives by Beauvais Lyons is wonderful. Free parking."

"See below for a recap of current exhibits. It's free! See photos, too. The Gregg Museum of Art & Design reopened in its current home at 1903 Hillsborough Street on August 26, 2017. The museum includes the renovated original NC State University Chancellor’s residence and a recent addition. The grounds and patios are also a magnificent escape from a busy urban environment. Include the gardens and paths in your visit. Entrance to the museum is free, as is parking. There’s a room in the museum for children to sit and draw and plenty of places for parents and other visitors to sit an enjoy the beautiful environment. Many old and majestic oaks remind of the time when this was the Chancellor's home. Restaurants are plentiful just across Hillsborough Street, including David’s Duck & Dumpling, Players Retreat and Gonza Tacos y Tequila (next to the new Aloft Hotel across from the Bell Tower) Current (2019) programs: Now open through September 8, 2019 Southern Surreal — Masterpiece Furniture by Tilden Stone Don’t miss the eccentric furniture masterpieces by North Carolina’s greatest unsung master maker! This exhibit presents a unique, beautiful, artful and whimsical stroll through the mind of Tilden Stone as seen through his masterful and creative furniture. The exhibit is world-class and would not be out of place in any museum. That it is here in Raleigh is a great gift to the community. Plan a visit! Now through July 28, 2019: Borderlands – Evidence from the Rio Grande by Susan Harbage Page Documentary photos and found objects from the US/Mexico border. This exhibit brings the border crisis off the newspaper and TV screens and places it in a very poignant perspective.
