Andrews Geyser

"This is hard to get to via remote narrow roads that at times are gravel. The area has a river which is pretty but other than that, it is not a pretty area. The "geyser" isn't on and I guess has been shut off for a year or more. It is actually a fountain (when it is working). The story behind the memorial is a good one and has historical significance. But if the fountain isn't on, there is not much to see or do here."

"As of 9/7/23, the geyser is not producing any water. It's bone dry and looks like it's been that way a long time. Just to avoid any disappointment. But the grassy areas around the geyser are kind of nice for a picnic."

"Dirt road up to R/R crossing is very steep and leads to private property. It is best to park down by the picnik area then walk up the road to the R/R crossing. Walk along the tracks circumventing the private property. Then hike to the geyser."

"Nice and quiet place set back off of main roads. Beautiful creek running in the wood line behind it. Has a couple other memorials as well. One being for the railroad workers who built the railroads in Western NC and another for the soldiers from the county."

"Great place to come for a picnic in the deep green grass... to the many picnic tables located in different shaded areas among the trees. One Covered picnic area was also available. If your visiting and would love to cool off, also available...Mills River is on site too! What a lovely family outing for a short outing to relax for a while or the entire day."
