Reviews of Asheville Community Movement
"Hostile management/owner Angie after they misplaced our daughter’s glasses. See other reviews that also talk about this same pattern of hostility towards parents. Any time you enter the office they act like you’re crazy for being in there or they just ignore you. Incredibly rude. Dirty facility. Lots of substitute teachers."
"Staff aren’t the friendliest and for what the place costs just for our 2yo to attend, it’s somewhat appalling at how dirty and potentially dangerous the place is. There’s broken chairs crumpled in arms length to children, dust/dirt all over the mats and a cringey, rusty play ground outside… really a few hours spent on spiffing up the place would go a long ways. Despite my view of it, our kid loves it."
"My daughter wanted to start gymnastics. I called a month out from their late August start date to ask how to register for the next set of classes. I was told that registration didn't open until a couple of days before class started. So today I went to register my kiddo and found that not only could I not register for August classes, but that their September classes already have a wait list. What it boils down to is these people are liars."
"We signed our daughter up for their gymnastics camp at the beginning of July.. After her first few days of camp, my daughter had complained that the teachers were unfair. She told us that they break their own rules when playing games.. I wanted to get my own perspective on the place, but they had refused all entry to parents. When I walked in the front office to introduce myself, I was greeted with abrupt hostility. Even though we had paid them over $400 dollars, and we were first time clients. They offered me "an observation area" but it was totally bogus. It's set to the side, off to the far left, out of the way. We could not see our kid at all from there. It looked like it had been barricaded to keep the homeless people out. There were rusty nails, and 2x4's everywhere. See images attached as reference. I found the people running the place to be very unfriendly and quick to make assumptions about me and my family. My problem here really was their lack of transparency with me as a parent. If we can't walk in and say hello to someone, talk about her progress with her coach, etc.. im not interested in sending my 6 year old daughter there. They offered no casual conversation, not even a hello when I walked through the door. This interaction alone is worth 1 star. I do not recommend."
"My sister has attended ACM for 5 years and has grown so much. It is such a supportive environment -- all the coaches and staff care about each child and encourage and train them in a way that is specific to them. Every child is important at every level and the staff don't ignore little details. It's so cool that the owners still know so many of the families personally even though it's grown tremendously. We've been with the gym almost since it first opened, through the ups and downs of a new business, and have been so glad we decided to come. It's a super positive place with talented and dedicated coaches, owners, and families. It's like a second home."
