"I really didn't want to give Tonya a bad review, but I hate for someone to do me like she did. I could not get in with my usual stylist, so I booked an online braid appointment with Tonya through Style Seat. It was about 10:30 in the morning, Friday, Aug 3rd when I made the appointment. It was a same-day booking for 2:30-5:30PM. I thought this would work out because my 2 year old was with a sitter. I arrived promptly, but Tonya was not there. The nail tech working there greeted me and called Tonya on the phone. Tonya tells her that she got the scheduling mixed up and she thought my appointment was for the following day. Huh? QUESTION#1: How did I receive a confirmation online telling me the date and time, but you as the stylist can't keep that straight? Ok... At 1:30PM we were texting back and forth about the brand/ how many packs of hair I needed, but at that point, you STILL didn't know I was coming that day? Ok... It's almost 3:30 and still no Tonya. Tonya calls the shop and informs the nail tech (not me) that she has a client at 4:00 and she's going to have to start her and then begin on me after. She asked the nail tech to ask me if 5:30 was too late to start on my hair. I initially said yes. I was not certain about what time I would be getting my daughter from the sitter. At this point, even though I'm not happy about this, I'm desperate. Thinking to myself "ok, she says this other client's style won't take long. I will just be patient so I can get my hair braided. I can't go to work on Monday without my hair styled." I decided to go up the street to get something to eat and wait for a while. Called the baby-sitter. She was cool with the situation and told me she'd keep my daughter until my hair was done. I returned to the shop a little after 5. It's a little busier in the shop now. Tonya is there and another stylist in the same room. They are both working on heads. Tonya was retwisting a lady's dreadlocks. To make a long story a LITTLE shorter, it was 7:00 PM before she started on my head. I wanted basic box braids, medium sized. She asked me if I would like the rubber-band method. I asked what that was. She told me that the style would last longer and my parts would be neater. I said "ok." I should have stuck with what I originally wanted, since I didn't know what that would look like. When Tonya finished, I told her that I wasn't completely sure about my style. I didn't care for the big parts and the braids were bigger than what I realized they would be. She didn't really respond... She was able to put my hair up for me in a high-bun style. I left the shop at 10:50PM...to meet the sitter in Hillsborough at exit 164 to get my 2 year old. Yes...to get my baby at almost 11:00 at night...We ended up back home in Durham close to midnight. And oh yeah...Tonya charged me full price, $120. QUESTION: You still charge full-price after I sat in your shop for almost 9 hours for what was supposed to be a 3 hour appointment? I usually tip 20%. I don't stiff people. Although I did not especially want to, I gave her like an extra 10 or something. She was nice, maybe that's why. Maybe it was because we were sitting there watching Tyler Perry stage- plays the whole time, I don't know... The VERY next day, I texted her and told her that I appreciated her effort, but that I would like for her to restyle my hair the following week with a style that I would like better. I even suggested it could be a quick feed-in cornrow style. She texted back "no problem, I will be more than happy to." I told her "thank you" and I would wait for her to let me know when she could do it the following week. I have not heard from her. It has been 20 days and 3 braids have slipped out. So much for the style lasting longer... So I guess the last question would be: Why would you say you would do something you had no intention of doing...as a professional businesswoman? #fragglenaggle"
"If you need your dreads washed and retwisted Tonya is the woman to see. Quick appointments and Great Customer service. If I owned a shoo and he would be running it!!!"
"Jasmine does an awesome job!!"
