Reviews of Clancy's Tavern & Whiskey House
"One of my all time favorite places to go! I love the coziness of the bar, I love how you can go in a stranger and leave knowing people. It can get crowded but, it is totally worth it! The food is good, although there is much on their menu I have not tried. The drinks! The drinks are handcrafted and the bartenders are friendly. If you are in Knoxville, you gotta go to Clancy's!!!"
"The design of this place has great intentions but misses the mark entirely halfway through. Plenty of options on tap? Check. Cocktail options plentiful? Check. Has that classic pub feel? Double check. Now for the cons... I had the shepherds pie. It was swimming in grease and mediocre quality at best. I saw reviews about it, so I had confidence in ordering it. Quickly regretted it. Smithwicks on tap was at least a highlight. My waitress was very kind and helpful throughout the entire experience. She was nothing short of great! However, something started rubbing me the wrong way when someone who appeared to be the manager was gossiping with the bar staff about a previous customer. The way they spoke about this customer was downright offensive and disgusting. Quickly losing my appetite, I asked for the check despite wanting to stay for a few more pints. The idea is great to have a cool classic Irish pub, but the open gossip in front of customers about other customers is just downright unprofessional and childish. This is just one person's experience, so take it with a grain of salt, but it definitely encourages me to never return. Can't wait to be part of the next gossip chain for the next customer to overhear. In my experience, the way the staff talked poorly about previous customers is in bad taste, and it's sadly a one-way ticket to the inevitable failure of a business to behave this way."
"We had tried to get in here a few times and it had always been packed to the door, but fortunately it wasn't at full capacity before the Tom Keifer show so we got to actually sit at a table, order food and have a conversation without screaming at each other. I will start with the positive, which was the food. Probably some of the best "Bar food" I've had in a very long time. The Pretzels and Beer cheese, The Wings, The loaded fries and the fish and chips were all fabulous. IF I ev r go back I look forward to trying the Reuben... The service was WAY below par. Before I go on a rant, I will acknowledge that the server could have been new, therefore I place all blame on management for putting a new girl on the floor during a concert night. Otherwise she was just mentally challenged. Not one, but two wrong food orders. She couldn't tell the difference between a shandy and an IPA AND she gave my credit card to another customer. As I said, she could have been new, but it wasn't crowded and we were only a four top, a good manager should have known better to put someone that in expericed on the floor on a concert night. As far as the atmosphere, it was really chill THAT night, but other times I went it was packed out and I the door and heard more than once women complaining about getting their butts grabbed. I would more than likely try this place again because the food was absolutely delicious, but I guess after this review I will have to go incognito but I really want to try that Reuben I saw my friend eating. I won't recommend or NOT recommend, I will just say enter at your own personal comfort level"
"Omg! The best little Irish pub! We were in town for a comedy performance at the Bijou. Clancy's was just up the street, on the corner next to The Tennessee State Theater. We had excellent service from Hunter and the other bartenders. The food and service were excellent! We'll definitely be back when we're in Knoxville again! They got really busy because Kansas was in town and performing next door, but they handled it beautifully from my perspective."
"Nice pub downtown. Recommend the blue cheese chips - really good. The Reubens were decent, but I wish they toasted the bread and added a little more sauerkraut. Personal preferences though. We’ll be back."
