"I booked a blowout + hot tool at lavish before a wedding I attended. I was greeted right away and introduced to Sophia my stylist. I assumed a blowout + hot tool just meant a standard blowout plus either added curls or straightening. Sophia asked me what I was thinking for my style, and I just told her I wanted my hair to look nice for the wedding, but wasn’t picky. She suggested a a few curls and maybe pin a few back, which I said was fine. She did wash my hair first and proceeded with the blowout. There was no sectioning of my hair or clipping sections out of the way, she just kind of ‘grabbed’ sections of hair with the round brush and blowed them down and to the side. There was no blowing out of the sections up or back to add volume which is typically done in a standard blowout (and really isn’t the point of a blowout to add volume?) She then offered to show me a few photos of what my options were - again I was just expecting a few curls, I never asked for any specific styling. She showed me pictures of either twisted back pieces with curls or braids- I told her I guess twists would be fine, she didn’t need to spend a ton of time on braids. She did style my hair with some twists and curls. I was not overly impressed with the style, but it was fine enough and workable for me to fix before the wedding if needed. Once finished, she walked me to the front desk to check out- really didn’t say much of anything, not even really a goodbye/have a good day. When the receptionist was off the phone to check me out, she told me my total was $125 - $50 more than the service I booked. I asked her to repeat the total, and just quickly paid as there were other guests checking in. There was never once a single mention of any of the options that Sophia was offering me would add additional costs to the service- I just felt it was kind of shady/not a good practice to not first confirm that the customer was okay with the additional costs. $50 is a substantial amount to be charging guests extra without first confirming. Also $125 for the style I received is way overpriced- that is more than I paid for my hair to get done for my own wedding. At that price I would have expected much better service and a much better finished style (I included pics of the finished style, you can decide if it was worth $125). The blowout was also the worst I have ever received, definitely not worth the original $75 I was supposed to have been charged. I don’t live in the area, so I wouldn’t have been returning to the salon anyways, but I definitely think they need to ensure they are informing their clients of any additional costs for things THEY are suggesting/offering. Also for the prices they are charging their blowout/styling techniques should be better and comparable to other salons (my friend went to a different salon close by and paid $75 for a full updo which looked much nicer than the style I received). TL:DR Was charged $50 more than the service I booked for options that the stylist offered me - nothing that I asked for. Was not notified of the additional charges until checking out. Blowout was subpar/not worth the price."

"I needed to find a salon in Chapel Hill and so happy that I chose Lavish and Erica! I travel a lot but I will now do everything to make sure I get my haircuts here. The salon is perfectly friendly and laid-back, and Erica is the best. She is that ideal combination of having all the skills and talent while being genuine, kind, not at all pushy.
