"I actually live 2.5 hours away but when it became evident that I needed a gum graft, I did some research and scheduled a consult with Dr. Ficca here. He had gotten good reviews and I liked the idea of using Alloderm (donated tissue) for the graft rather than needing to take from the roof of my mouth and requiring a second site impacted. Dr. Ficca said I was a good candidate so I had the procedure done. The entire process to do do two areas covered with one graft was maybe 1.5 hours and I never felt a thing. They did a great job numbing and it stayed numb throughout the day with minimal bleeding. It did swell up quite a bit but I never felt any major pain, more just a soreness off and on for a few days that ibuprofin took care of. I didn't have to adjust my diet nearly as much as I thought I would and mostly just stayed away from crunchy foods and small things that could get stuck in the area. I ate most of what I wanted and just focused on chewing on the other side.Three weeks later I had the sutures out and am almost completely back to normal! Throughout the initial graft and then the follow up, Mary was the assistant and I just have to give her a shout out for being so awesome, so friendly and helpful. I could tell how caring she was and she made the experience that much better. Overall, the entire process was a tiny fraction of how much I had built it up in my head. It was definitely worth while and I'm very happy I made the drive down and went with this office."
