"One of the best hidden gems in Asheville! A classic dive bar with pool tables, outdoor seating by the river, a colorful cast of regulars, and fun events every week from kareoke to drag shows! They also have fire pits outside now that it is getting chilly. They even have unlimited pac-man on the old school arcade machine should you be so inclined! They do not serve food but there is a food truck that is available from time to time and on Sundays they started doing a brunch which is a great deal for all you can eat. Definitely worth checking out if you're in asheville!"

"We came here from out of town, looking to experience a little of the Asheville weekend nightlife. There was a comedy show advertised and it seemed like a small but respectable venue when looking online. If I hadn't looked at the map ahead of time, I'd have thought Google had gotten us lost. The street the venue is on is largely more industrial than developed. The bar itself looks as though it has seen better days. There are eclectic styles, and then there's just unfinished/shoddy which is the line this venue seems to tow. No food, limited bar, the comedy show was in what appeared to be a poorly done addition to the side of the building with walls left unfinished. That being said, for a $15 comedy show it was entertaining enough. I don't think we'd be back, but it was definitely an experience."

"A must visit. The Getaway river bar has a definite dive bar vibe so if you’re looking for something fancy or upscale suggest heading elsewhere. The crowd seemed to be local when we visited and the bar is also frequented by motorcycle enthusiasts. This is a great low key bar with inexpensive drinks to hang with friends outside by the river. They have pool tables indoors, and darts outdoors. We sat by the river, got some Moscow mules, and watched kayakers and paddle boarders as they made their way through the river. You can also carry your own firewood for the pits."
