"Visiting bald head island is sooo worth it!! It was very easy getting there on the Ferry. There is a lot of parking (at $12 daily). Tickets cost $23 per person round trip, and include a tram ride to your vacation rental/hotel/house if you're staying over night. If you're a day tripper, you'd likely just rent a golf cart, rent a bike, or walk. The ferry ride is short, and was smooth on the day I visited. You get a nice view of oak island and the oak island lighthouse along the way. Ferrys leave southport once an hour on the hour, and leave bald head to return once an hour on the half hour. Everyone from the terminal to the ferry were all friendly and helpful."
"What a great way to travel! Nice to meet some of the people traveling to work on the island who made room for us to sit on the busy ferry. The best part was them showing us videos of their many trips to work watching the travelers in the front of the ferry getting soaked by the waves."
