"Everything was so delicious! My favorite was the South Indian vegetable korma and the lamb samosas. My partners favorite was the fish moilee. Service and atmosphere was also memorable. Everything felt so personal and filled with love from the stories on the menus to the owner serving the food. Highly recommend!"
"Let me start with, we drove from Raleigh and it was absolutely worth it. GREAT food & service. Everything we had was delicious from our drinks, to the appetizers, to the main plates. Chef Preeti even dropped by the table to check on us, she was very nice and welcoming. There are vegetarian and vegan options available. We will be eating our way through this menu all year. 10/10 Highly Recommend!"
"This was my first visit. The service was amazing. The hostess was warm and very knowledgeable about all the food options. As my followers know I observe a keto lifestyle so I am picky!!!. I had lunch with a friend and made my dietary restrictions known. The hostess told me all the options and said this was an excellent place to eat keto because even the rice bowls could be converted to keto options. The atmosphere was amazing I love the decor. The place smelled amazing and my appetite was energized by the smells of spices and freshly prepared options. The food was served promptly and I observed the same at other tables near me. I was talking to my associate so I did not get a picture of my own food. But the person at the next table was kind enough to allow me to photograph their food. Lol Five Star and I highly recommend you drop in and try this place out. There's also one located in Raleigh which I will be trying to see if it is equally as amazing as this new one in Durham"
"This restaurant is so special. I’m a firm believer that food is love, and this menu perfectly encapsulates head chef Preeti Waas’ love for family, community, and food. The menu reads like a personal memoir as Preeti shares the history of each dish and personal anecdotes about her experiences creating and sharing her favorite foods. And the food is incredible. Don’t take my word for it - my Indian husband said it’s the best samosa he’s had in the U.S. And he’s a self-proclaimed samosa connoisseur, so truly a ringing endorsement. We started with the samosas and rasam shots - both so, SO good. I’d not tried rasam before and wow - I’ve been missing out! We had the chicken biriynai (special) for our main, and ended with chai. Cheeni makes an excellent glass of chai. We were beyond full at this point, but desperately wanted to try the chicken ishtew…so we ordered it to go. Best decision we’ve made in a long time. Even ordered to-go to be consumed at a later time, this curry was bomb. If you are in Durham, you simply MUST try Cheeni. It will definitely become a staple in your rotation. UPDATE: we stopped in on NYE for the soft open of the bar: excellent! Inventive cocktails and great service."
"We had a great experience last night and are continuing to have a great experience for lunch with our leftovers. Everything reheated really well! The fish from the grilled meat platter is phenomenal. The samosas are giant and delicious. I loved that the tea and soda were from India. And the service was fantastic."
