"Visit North Carolina from Miami, and I was looking where to ride my bicycle. The employe was super friendly and helpful. The store is awesome too with a lot of nice clothing and awesome bicycles."
"Cool store in great location with friendly people but service experience was meh. They did a lot of the standard service things like telling you that they would order a part, forgetting to order it, and then telling you that they ordered it when they really didn’t (order origination date gave them away). I had to repeatedly follow-up with them to remember to start work on my bike which was a drag. Once I got my bike back, the cassette that they replaced came loose during the middle of the bike race that I had the cassette replaced for resulting in about 10 miles of nearly constant ghost and power shifting. The suspension bearing that they neglected to order for three months also wasn’t available by race day, which lead to a wallowed-out bearing race and cracked frame. I really don’t want to have to function as an unpaid shop manager and QC inspector, I already have a job that keeps me more than busy enough. It’s also super frustrating for all involved because I don’t want to call/visit them and they don’t want me to call/visit them but if I leave it to them, then the work will be completed poorly and slowly. It might be helpful to come up with a parts tracking system that captures memory/procrastination errors and a QC process more methodical than a ride around the block."
"Mike and company are great. They've taken care of my bikes for years. I don't live in Boone anymore, but still stop in for work and supplies anytime I pass through. With the college kids and turnover associated with that, sometimes you'll have a slightly different experience than the time before. But they're always good for their work and to rectify any issues."
"TL;DR: Stellar bike shop with incredibly knowledgeable staff and positive business practices. Also help with rad trails. Got a mountain bike(Marin San Quentin 2) from them a while back. Clearly very knowledgeable staff from the get-go. Price on the bike was right on point, couldn't complain. Took my bike in today for the free service included with the purchase(cassette was loose and drivetrain was whack). Ended up picking up a mini pump and a nice Bell helmet for unbelievably reasonable cost; especially considering the business is in the middle of downtown Boone. Not to mention they went the extra step in using an orange cable end to match my grips and peds. It's the little stuff that matters! I would also would like to mention that the staff of this bike shop does a lot of work with the local trail network, Rocky Knob; which is probably tied with Tannery Knob in Johnson city as my absolute favorite trail network. Dudes know their bikes and their trails, glad to call Magic Cycles my bike shop."
"Some friends of mine referred me to this shop because of Magic Cycle’s expertise and popularity in the area. I brought in a couple of used bikes for tune ups and replacement parts. The entire process took about two months. The information in my repair ticket was lost for a number of weeks, management/employees never called to update me on repairs or completion, and staff repeatedly commented on how cheap the bikes were all 4 times I went to the shop. Overall, I only paid $145 for two tune ups and a replacement part so I figured I could let the rest go. I took the bikes on our first outing today, and the breaks on one of the bikes don’t work AT ALL. So if you are in need of any bikes repairs, I would not recommend wasting your time here. And if you’re new to biking or mountain biking, you’re definitely not welcome here."
