Reviews of Food Lion
"Convenient, decent prices, caters to a less affluent customer base than some, so meat quality and availability of more pricey cuts of beef is low. But, good basic grocery. Update: parking lot looks freshly covered and painted today (01/17/24) and the shopping center front fascia look to have been brightened with either an excellent power washing or id suspect recent painting (probably both). Food Lion now has their express pickup service properly marked and equipped in the lot, and the new self-checkout is corralled and better queue management with more stations (upgrades from 4 to I believe six or more now). I also noticed somewhat better stock in the meat/seafood department, but the online pricing was both not correct at the register on various items and none of the meat/seafood signage had been updated at 8am Monday morning (online app indicates their sales/pricing/etc updates weekly on Mondays), but the prices did ring correct for the advertised VIC and e-coupon deals at checkout for meats (not so perfect for soda, gallon+ bottled waters, or sports drinks), and generally the store seemed to be past the appropriate deadline to be ready to open this Momday morning with current VIC signage deployed or even normal price tags placed clearly near the relevant stocked items. The outdated VIC signage looked to have been pulled down as priority, but posting new signage before opening apparently was the victim of staffing resources im guessing, as checkout wasn't well staffed or monitored, hence I checked out without assistance on pricing disparities or challenges trying to split payment methods, but I too was short on time so I paid a bit too much and paid with different methods than desired due to lack of available assistance and impatience preventing my seeking out an employee in some other area out of sight.... Before I was done bagging and departing, the attendant did return (from apparently being lured away to assist another customer, one of about 4 in the store at the time). So, some things better, some not yet better. But, hoping store management finds or trains enthusiastic capable staff (to supplement what seems to be demoralized short handed staff when I visit, often near open or close as my habit). The store definitely needs their hidden talents among staff celebrated and nurtured and adequate new staff for those unsung heroes to mentor and an effort to champion a culture shift towards customer appreciation, self-motivated ambition, store pride, and ownership of community perception and experience in the store."
"Most of the management is nice and helpful. There is one lady who I believe is a manager and was quite rude for no reason. ..took more energy for her to make facial expressions and be difficult than it was to help me..employees have improved some..seems they are trying to improve aesthetics within the store and outside. They’ve had some renovations."
"I haven't been to this grocery store in many months as the strip mall itself had become so dirty and just felt unsafe in general. As it is I don't even like going to this location as they rarely have what I'm looking for. I was in a rush today and was nearby and needed just a few common items so headed over. To my surprise the front of all the bldgs has been refreshed and it looks so much better. There was just a few carts outside, whereas normally there are tons. I noticed one of them had a lock type of thing on one wheel which keeps them from being stolen. It's about time! I headed inside and looked for the first item on my list. A very common item and they don't even carry it. It was enough for me to remind myself why this location is just a waste of my time and I left with nothing. Never again!"
"Prices are pretty good, but some of the produce can be so bad I can't find anything that isn't partially rotten. I went through every container of strawberries they had and every single one of them had berries that were Rotten or covered in white fuzzy mold. Then I saw an employee putting out a bunch of new containers of strawberries and I checked at least 6 of those and it was the same. Just gross. I was able to find some of the organic strawberries that looked edible. I had the same problem with the yellow onions before. I looked through the while pile and they all looked disgusting. Also, the deli has barely any options. I got the only turkey option available and when I got it home and opened it, pulled out the first slice and the back of that one and the fronts and backs of every other piece had a giant hot pink spot. It looked nasty. I've never seen anything like it before. So, for brand named, packaged food, Food Lion is a good place to buy, but for fresh produce and deli meats, I would go somewhere else. There's too many other grocery stores near by to settle for food that's already going bad in the store."
"This is a clean and well stocked food lion. There were several checkout lanes available including self checkout. I’m from Maryland and the Food Lion isles were similar to the one where I live which made it easy to find things. The prices were great as well. It was a quick in and out. My favorite type of grocery shopping."
