Reviews of Video Game World
"This place is awesome. They have all sorts of games, manga, and accessories, and they even have a section for old gaming cabinets! Honestly wish I had some quarters on me so that I could play. Their collection is very comprehensive and they have stuff for just about every console!"
"FAKE GAME. I want to start off by saying that I love these stores and have been frequenting the Huntersville and Mooresville locations for years. I have never had any problems until very recently. A few years ago I purchased a copy of Pokemon Emerald from the Huntersville location. I was told it was a genuine copy and I played it and had zero problems with the game itself. Recently, I've been in the process of moving and have been trying to sell some of my old games and brought Pokemon Emerald back to sell/trade. They immediately informed me that the game was fake and they couldn't help me. They didn't even flinch when I told them the game had come from their store years earlier. I bought the game to play for nostalgia purposes and would have been fine buying it if they had told me it was a replica, but the bothersome part is that they passed it off as a real thing. I in no way expected them to buy back a fake copy of a game for full price, but as a regular customer I was rightfully frustrated and felt like I had been scammed. I called in the next day and the guy who checked the game, I believe his name is Zach, told me he believed that I bought the copy from their store but there was nothing they could do about it since I didn't have a receipt. Because the purchase happened so long ago I didn't have one. At that point, I really just wanted some sort of assurance that they appreciated my patronage and they were sorry that this happened. Instead it seemed as if they just wanted to get me off the phone as fast as possible and it soured my relationship with a store I had loved for years. If you are buying games, be sure to save your receipt and do a legit check before/right after you leave the store. Zach assured me that "the staff is trained to recognize fakes", but whoever checked the game sold to me needed more training. I'm attaching a picture of the fake game I bought (it's the green one) as well as a sticker that they gave me when I purchased the game. Since they no longer give away the sticker, I hope it at least demonstrates how long I've been a regular. I have a bunch more of them stuck all over my possessions. I have bought 100% of my video game merch from here since discovering it existed and 100% of my manga since they started offering that too so I'm just very disappointed that this happened."
"Probably the most impressive inventory of classic consoles and games I have been to. This is a place definitely for avid gamer collectors or those looking for original nostalgia. Prices are high only because games are rare and sought after but are in great condition. They also offer other things like figurines and other collectors items. They have a attached ice cream and vintage arcade games next to the shop."
"I made a 2 hour trip to visit this place, I was looking for a PS2 console and I had a GameCube and a few games to trade in. The drive was definitely well worth it. The staff was super helpful! My stuff was worth more than I thought and I bought the console I was looking for and they had an incredible selection of games, and I grabbed a few. The guy helping me was incredibly knowledgeable and I was able to go home and plug in the console and dive into some classic games. The store was clean, and there was a wide selection of games and accessories for various consoles. A little bit of everything, and you will not be disappointed."
"Great place for game collectors. Love how this store has changed over the years. They are about to open up an old school arcade too! You can find some real gems here. Steven helped me today with an old school Genesis and a rare NES game. Will definitely be back. This is my go-to game store."
