"This is one of 8 Dental clinics in the East Carolina University School of Dentistry. It is a place where young Dentist are Givin an internship to work hands on with the supervision and expertise of top Dentist and Oral Surgeons. They do Dental X-rays and oral health care. They are taught to extract teeth and how to rebuild or repair damaged teeth. They do offer Dental Emplants and dentures. One thing that you have to remember is to have Patience and this is a School of Dentistry. They take most types of Dental insurance and their prices are quite a bit lower than a private practice. On my first visit they did full X-rays of my teeth and made a plan of what to do to help me with several very bad teeth. I returned at a later date and the young lady explained everything she was about to do. She was very gentle and did everything she could to keep the pain away during the extraction of 2 very bad molars. She did have to ask for assistance from the head Dentist and he took over and really worked hard to get the teeth out. It was not easy. Afterwards the young Dentist took back over and removed 3 more teeth from the front of my mouth. 5 in all! The Head Dentist came back in and looked over everything she did and it was good. He then told me what I was to expect and what I should eat and so on. No doubt that I felt very bad and my Wife picked me up and took me home. I went straight to bed and took Tylenol. I already take pain medication for back pain so they didn't prescribe anything else. On the 2nd day home I drank a Banana/ Oatmeal Protein Shake. Remember, Don't Suck. Let it run into your mouth. Drink plenty of water. I Highly Recommend that if you don't have a Dentist that you give these Young Interns a chance to take care of your Oral problems."
"I cannot say enough good things about E.C.U. The receptionist are friendly, helpful and pleasant. The doctors and students are professional and caring. The school claims to support veterans. As a Viet Nam era veteran I have been treated with great respect by the entire staff. Thank you all for your service."
"I am extremely satisfied with the dentists and dentistry. With that said, if you are a parent and you are waiting on your child, heed my words and BRING A BOOK. There is no cell service. There is no access to wifi. There is no radio playing. There are no magazines. There are a couple of televisions that are turned off. There is absolutely NOTHING TO DO. If you have to sit in that waiting room for hours, it is like being in solitary confinement. I left with a headache from me talking to myself for multiple hours to pass the time. Anyway, minus 1 star for having the worst waiting room in existence. By the way, if you have very small children, there is a waiting area for them to do nothing as well (see pic)."
"I am writing this to inform people just how great the ECU dental clinic is. I spent many years, myself, in the dental field. As a result, I am very critical. The staff, the entire staff, are just wonderful. They are professional and caring. I have been dealing with a childhood accident for several decades. Finally I was referred to them. They treated me without judgement or criticism, which I feel is important because sometimes life gets in the way. Every step of my care was evaluated and re-evaluated. They fitted me with a lower partial which fits just perfect in spite if a few complications. Aside from the excellent care provided to me personally, they are very focused on helping veterans. The VA DOES NOT provide dental care to Veterans unless its service related. These folks really care about dental health for Veterans and go above and beyond to provide for them....Kudos to everyone involved with this clinic.."
"My husband is a vet and went to the stand down 2 weeks ago in franklin we sat there almost 2 hrs and was told they would cover all costs of the repair of his upper denture and then would make impressions for a new set. Well last week they called and cancelled his appointment and made for a later date.said he would need 1000. To 2000. For his visit when he came in. He said what happen to no cost? Lady said they were out of funds. What a joke this whole fiasco was. Never would I recommend this place to anyone! They can't even give you a straight answer, nice way to care for a veteran. Why go to the vets stand down and offer care if you have no intention of helping, just to drum up clients. If I could give less then 1 star I would. They wouldn't even see him today as his dentures broke in half!"
