Reviews
"I quit going here years ago because of how unfriendly the owner was. Simply put, I’m old enough that I don’t need to put up with bad attitudes. So I put my money where my mouth is and shop at Kim’s or YZ, but was nearby and needed a few things so I went there. Sure, they had them but were 30% more expensive than the other stores and the employee was again really unfriendly with a rude attitude and there’s just no reason to run a business that way."
"Having read reviews, I had much higher expectations for this place. It is small and compact. Although they have a selection of Asian foods, it isn’t a large variety and are heavily overpriced as compared to other local markets. My biggest complaint is the fruit flies that are so severe that they are on you after you exit the store. Keep in mind that you will need to brush your skin thoroughly and shake your clothes and hair to avoid carrying them with you into your car or home. They are THAT bad. Also, let’s discuss the cashier a moment. She fakes friendliness initially, but makes offensive, rude, underhanded comments at every turn. It is also extremely unusual and strangely unsettling to have an American Caucasian at an Asian market. I’m sorry, but she could not possibly answer any questions for anyone about anything. Overall, it’s a no go. The rotten produce, tight space, unwelcoming environment, high prices… it isn’t worth your time."
"Who is writing that this place is affordable? What do you do for a living or how much money did you inherit to not recognize crazy price discrepancies? My husband and I were astounded at the prices here and super disappointed after making the trip and reading the other "affordable" reviews. My husband is Asian American, and we frequent Asian markets often, both locally and in our travels. Our jaws nearly hit the floor. A two pound bag of generic sushi rice was double the price of both World Market and Walmart. Every single sauce we looked at was at least $1.25 more than at other stores. Many of the individual items don't have price tags, so you have to look at every available one on the shelf to possibly spot a tag. We found tags maybe 65% of the time after digging back on the shelves. We brought a product to the counter to get a price check, and the salesperson told us what the price was (again, double the cost of what it would be in any other store), assured us it was great, and asked us if we wanted anything else, implying we were getting it when we literally just asked for a price check. Pushy. Even the soy sauce is double the price of every grocery store we buy soy sauce at (and yes, we buy a lot). The SOY SAUCE. How rich are you people not to realize that most of these products are being sold for at least 25% more than other international grocery stores or regular stores in the area?"
"This place is awesome!! The person I interacted with was so incredibly nice and helpful. They gave me tips, advice and was really friendly to talk with. The prices were way better than supermarkets and they helped me find what I was looking for. Thank you for a great little shop."
"Always shop here for Japanese foods and a lot of my gluten free foods. Just be careful and always check the labels. As with any store there are items that contain glutens."
