Reviews of Dr. James R. Elrod, DDS
"Dr. Elrod is a great dentist. Never had a bad visit. He may be a older dentist but he knows what he is doing. Would highly recommend him and his staff."
"I'll be straight to the point. I had some simple cavity work needing done. Firstly, whatever he gave me to numb made me pass out and sweet profusely. He couldn't explain what happened and I have never done that before even with more serious dental work. The filling he did fell out later that week. Went back for more cavity work, he said he was using different numb stuff and while I didn't pass out, I still got nauseous and sweaty. Still no idea why. He did something to my front teeth that wasn't part of my plan and that caused me to ot be able to floss correctly ever since. To which he stated I could just pull the floss through instead of downwards lol. 3rd time around he used gas and syringe and it went better, except now, weeks later, my entire lower left row of teeth can't handle hardly any pressure. They offered to have me come in and get it all fixed but I think I'll just wait for my new insurance to kick in and go elsewhere. This has been a traumatizing and a waste of time as they are 45 minutes away from anywhere. He also doesn't wear a face cover while hovering over you, idk the rules but that's off-putting to me. The ONLY reason I gave 2 instead of 1 stars is the assistants were caring, nice, and attentive. They're the only reason I went back as many times as I did but I just couldn't do it anymore. Thank you for your compassion ladies."
"I had my first appointment there today. It was a struggle finding anyone willing to take my insurance, but Dr. Elrod’s office was very accommodating. I really want to express my gratitude for how well they treated my daughter and I. My two-year-old comes with me pretty much everywhere because I have no one to watch her. Dr. Elrod’s receptionist/assistant treated her like she was her own kid while Dr. Elrod cleaned my teeth and did his exam. I was nervous coming to a new dentist after leaving my previous office of nearly 15 years, but I was pleased with the care I received today!"
"I had to have a broken tooth surgically removed today 4/5/18 and Dr.Elrod was so caring and compassionate. I began to feel a lot of pain due to the broken tooth and infection and because I'm one of those lucky people that the numbing stuff and gas didn't even seem to ease the pain and Dr. Elrod done everything in his power to make me comfortable and to get the tooth out as soon as he possibly could. And the dental assistants are even more amazing. The one who was assisting him on my surgical removal made sure I was comfortable before Dr.Elrod began and when he had to take a break because of all the pain I was feeling she kept checking on me and was very compassionate. The other lady at the front desk is AMAZING! She answered every question I had and when the tooth was finally out she made sure I understood the care directions and even told me that if I'm still having issues with the pain by Saturday to call her at the office because she was going to go in while they are closed to check messages and to make sure I wasn't in any unnecessary pain. I will definitely be going back to Dr.Elrod and his wonderful dental assistants."
"I would not recommend Dr. Elrod. I generally love going to the dentist and I have never been subjected to such pain; I don't know whether it was lack of skill or complete disregard for patient satisfaction, but I will not be back and I will not recommend this doctor to anyone else. My husband and I went in for a simple cleaning and we both felt that the service was not thorough and came out with gums almost ripped to shreds."
