"Amazing! Located in a historic building, the restaurant serves American-German fusion specialties. Everything was perfect: the place has a real charm, its own style (even the toilets look cool, with all their stickers) inspired by Art Deco architecture (the chairs!!!), and the staff was super SUPER friendly. I'm really looking forward to coming back, next time I'm in Raleigh."
"Love the overall vibe of this place. Casually cool, laid back, friendly, and the food is simple with a focus on quality. Everything tasted amazing and very fresh. PSA- you must order the shanny fries. They are exceptional. Freshly made fries cooked perfectly and tossed with flavorful herbs, plated with 3 tasty scratch-made sauces. 10/10 I ordered the cheesesteak special, which I thought tasted more like a pot roast sandwich than the flavor of cheesesteak. It was very good, and made delicious by dipping it into their tomato soup which tastes like marinara in the best way. Husband had the chicken club sandwich and devoured it with rave reviews. Add this restaurant to your list!"
"Rahmschnizel My wife and I came in and enjoyed some terrific German style food during Raleigh Restaurant Week. A couple pro tips, they only serve beer and wine for alcohol, no liquor. When we were there wine was $12/glass and $48/bottle which was not obvious on a quick scan of the online menu. Anyway we ended up with a bottle of sparkling rose that was good. The food was all great. The Capital Club Salad was delicious lightly but evenly dressed and was a nice way to start. The potato cakes were crispy yumminess. The Brat Bite Sampler was great with two different styles of mild German sausage a healthy amount of tasty sauerkraut, delicious stone ground mustard, and some of the best bistro style fries I have had anywhere. My favorite dish was the Rahmschnizel, thin cut pork tenderloin well seasoned served on spaetzle (a small rustic noodle/dumpling) topped with a rich buttery mushroom sauce that all comes together for a decadent bite of meaty buttery goodness. We finished with the strudel, I’m not a strudel person but it was good and my wife, who is a strudel person, was fighting to make sure I didn’t eat too much of it so she could eat the rest. Bottom line, it’s good, check it out, even if you don’t know if you like German food, you probably do and the folks here will help you pick something you will love."
"It was a cloudy and drizzly Wednesday afternoon. We wanted to do a team lunch and decided to go here. We didn’t have reservations but they were able to make room for us in the back. This place has some of the best sandwiches and burgers in Raleigh. Great service and great quality food. They have a good location in the heart of downtown and is a perfect lunch spot. They also have a good brunch from what I hear. Will need to check our again."
"We tried this restaurant after hearing about it from a family friend. I have traveled all over Germany and finding authentic German and Central European food is somewhat challenging in NC. Everything here was great and the second I tasted my first sip of the draft beer I immediately was hit with nostalgic memories of traveling through Bavaria and southern Germany. We ordered the pretzel, Maultaschen, schnitzel sandwich, and sausage sampler and German portage salad. The food was fantastic and tasted like what you would get in Europe. I definitely recommend this place for a nice dinner out or date night!"
